You sit at another SHIELD thing your parents drug you along to.
"Come on, Tony. It's not that bad." Maria Stark says to her son.
"Yeah. Sure, Mom." He says.
"I've got to go do something for your father." She says, then continues to say something quietly to Tony.
Tony scans the room and stops on you. He gives a nod and a slight smile, which you reciprocate and then quickly look away from.
You look back when you hear heels clicking, just in time to see Maria walking away. Tony turns in your direction and your eyes flick to the monitor showing what was happening on the stage, and you try to pretend like you've been paying attention.
"Hey." Tony says, and you look over. "Mind if I sit?" He gestures to the spot on the couch beside you.
"Sure. Go ahead." You shrug.
"Mom says I should be like you: suffer of boredom silently." He cracks a smile.
"I've grown accustomed to it."
"You should speak up for yourself. All those times your dad puts you down? You really should say something."
"Why? So we can argue like you and your father?"
He smiles. "Touché."
"Sorry."
"I think you'd be happier if you stood up for yourself."
"Happier? No. Maybe if I left."
"Let's run away."
"Run away?"
"Yeah. Let's run away."
"You've barely spoken to me, and now you wanna run away with me?" You laugh a bit.
"I've spoken to you. You haven't spoken much back. I vote we do it. All in favor, say I."
"What about your mom?"
"I'll leave her a note."
"Is this really a good idea, Tony?"
"We don't have to stay forever. Just long enough." He stands up. "I'm going. You can come if you want."
You consider briefly, and finally stand up. "All right. Let's go, then."
