Sydney Holmes leans against a tree, watching Sirius and James attack each other with sticks.
"They're idiots." She tells Remus and Peter.
"Oh, no. Those aren't ordinary sticks. They're lightsabers." Remus assures her. "Perfectly normal behavior."
"Lightsabers?"
"A Muggle movie that came out. It's called Star Wars. They liked it, in case you can't tell."
"No way."
"Yes way."
"Come play!" James yells over.
"No thanks." The three of them chorus.
Later that evening, Sydney's studying in the Ravenclaw common room.
"An infusion of wormwood and--" She begins.
"Hey, Syd? Sirius Black's outside waiting for you." A voice calls.
"What?" She asks.
"Sirius Black's out there. Says he's not leaving until you come fight him with some stick or something."
"Sticks again?" She sighs, but stands. She can't have him harassing every Ravenclaw wanting to get to their common room. "I'll be back." She tells her friends, and slips out.
"What do you want, Black?" She puts her hands on her hips.
"I want you to come play Star Wars with me."
"What are you, six?" She scowls.
"Deep inside, yes. Pleaaase?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Then come with me on a walk."
"You go from lightsabers to walks?"
"Yes. Let's go, shall we?" He holds out his arm.
She crosses her arms.
"Not leaving 'till you do." He sing-songs.
With an exasperated sigh (her most frequent sort of sigh, since she made friends with the Mauraders years ago), she links her arm through his and they set off. "You're an idiot." She tells him.
"Yes, I know." He grins cheekily. "Wanna go to Hogsmaede?" He taps a statue, and it opens to reveal a passage.
"Well, since we're practically there."
The two of them walk around Hogsmaede in a deafening silence.
"Can you release my arm, please?" Sydney asks.
"Nope."
"Do you ever just really wanna hex someone?"
He releases her arm.
"Thank you."
"Hey, Holmes?"
"What, Black?" She asks, impatience slipping through.
"I'm tired of pretending."
"I'm sorry, what?"
"I'm tired of pretending that I don't fancy you."
"Excuse me?" She raises her eyebrows.
"Never mind." He gives a little awkward laugh and keeps walking.
A short while later, the two of them are returning back to the castle.
She stops him as they're about to go back in. "Hey, Sirius?"
"What, Sydney?" He asks, equally as impatient as she had been.
She pulls him down by the collar and kisses him.
His eyes shoot open. "Um..."
"You started it." She shrugs.
"Somebody had to." He cracks a grin and pulls her back in.
