Nico di Angelo x Reader

"What's wrong?" Percy demands protectively.
"Leave me alone, Percy." You snap, backing away.
"I'll go get Nico." He threatens.
"Please don't." You say through your tears as you continue backing away, gasping.
"Then come here. Just calm down, everything's okay."
"Leave me alone. Please."
He walks away, and you drop to the ground, leaning against the back wall of a building.
Nico emerges from the-gods-know-where and kneels in front of you, not saying anything.
You lean forward and put your face into his Aviator jacket.
He wraps his arms around you tightly.
You want to say something, but your mind's racing too fast for you to think of anything. "I--I--Sorry--Please--"
"Sh. It's okay. It's okay." He says gently, quietly. "It's okay. I'm here. Everything's fine. It's okay."
You actually do calm down at that.
But then you get anxious about how effective that was, and you start gasping again, jerking away.
"Hold on. It's okay. Deep breath. There you go." He takes your hand from where it's clutching at your chest and places it against his own. "Feel my heart beat."
You can't feel it, what with your wild pulse and wracking sobs.
He brings his other hand up to cup your cheek, tilting your head up. He plants a soft kiss on your forehead before pulling back to hold your gaze. "Look at me. There, good. Feel me breathe. It's okay." He says calmly. "Everything's fine."
You eventually calm down, and now you can feel his steady heartbeat.
You drop your gaze.
"Wanna talk?"
You shake your head.
He doesn't say anything more. You sit there with your head bowed and your hand on his chest.
You hear that it's time for dinner after a while.
You don't want to go. Nico doesn't want to go.
You both get up and go.
You both sit at the Poseidon table.
Percy comes and sits across from you. "Are you okay?"
"You sold me out, you traitor!" You narrow your eyes.
"I was being loyal to Nico, though."
You turn your glare on Nico, and he gives such an adorably sheepish smile that you have to turn back to Percy in order to remain angry.
"He shadow-traveled to get to your faster." Percy grins cheekily.
"Shut up, Jackson." Nico glowers.
"Hey, don't be afraid to admit feelings, buddy." Percy reaches out and ruffles Nico's hair.
"Shut up, Jackson."
"Annabeth! I love you!" Percy shouts across the tables.
"Shut up, Jackson!" Annabeth yells back.
"See, chicks dig it." Percy assures Nico.
You would, of course, love it, but Nico's patient with you, you can be patient with him.
You follow Nico back to his cabin after dinner.
"You know I... love... you, right?" Nico asks as soon as you shut the door.
"Yeah, I know."
"Do you... want me to say it?"
You shrug. "You don't have to."
"But if you want me to..."
"Only if you want to, love."
"You want me to." He observes.
"Only if you want to, Nico. It's not a big deal." You shrug and grab the pajamas you keep in his cabin, going into the bathroom.
"N-Nico? Where'd you go?" You ask when you come back out.
"I'm right here." He says.
You have to stare at the spot the words came from for a second before you see Nico, who practically blended in with the shadows.
You sit beside him on the bed, leaning your head on his shoulder. "I'm tired." You mumble.
"Still don't wanna talk?"
"No."
He lays down, pulling you with him.
"I love you." He says.
You smile into his shirt. "I love you too, Nico."
