Chapter Fourty-Eight: The Others Are Nice

"We have three hours until we have to be a nana's house, get moving!" Jacob exclaimed packing a bag

"Who's 'nana'?" Gerard asked as we ate cereal at the breakfast bar

"That's my grandma on my dad's side, she actually likes me." I explained and carried my empty bowl to the sink

"But why do you call her nana?"

"Because why not." I replied and slipped into the bathroom

I brushed my teeth, hair, and added a small coat of eyeliner on my waterline. I exited the bathroom and entered my room and slipped on a red flannel and black skinny jeans along with black convereses that looked distressed from wearing for so many years.

I packed both Gerard and I's bag for tonight. We were staying with my nana for a night due to her living about two hours away. I left my room with two bags in hand to see everyone ready and bag in hand except for Gerard for which I was holding his bag.

"Let me hold that." He stated and took both of the bags, carrying them to the car

"I could've held my own bag but okay." I replied with a giggle

I slide into the back of the car next to Jacob, Mikey, and Frank.

"Why am I always back here with these losers?" I asked

"Because you're a child and children sit in the back." Ray explained with a giggle

After two hours of sitting in a cramped cars with obnoxious boys we finally reached my nana's house. I jumped out of the car from excitement and pure irritation from the guys. I opened the trunk and handed all the guys their bags and carried my bag up to the house. I knocked on the door to reveal my nana.

"Nana!" I exclaimed and hugged her

"Hey baby, who are these people? Well I know that's Jacob but who are the rest?" She asked

"Oh this is my b-fiancé Gerard, this is my friend Mikey which is his brother, this is my friend Ray, and this is my friend li-Frank." I explained motioning to each person I called

"Nice to meet you..." Gerard said and offered to shake nana's hand

"You can call me nana." She replied with a warm smile and declined his offer but hugged him instead

Gerard looked tooken back but just continued. She let go and looked Ray for a second but then offered us to come inside. We walked inside and I immediately felt at home. Pictures of Jacob and I as kids filled the home and memories filled each room.

"This is you?" Gerard asked pointing to a tiny framed picture of me over the fireplace

I scanned the picture to see me when I was seven and I had gotten first place at field day. My wavy brown hair was placed into a greasy ponytail, my clothing was bland due to the clothing guidelines, and I had a bright smile placed upon my face.

"Yep." I replied with a strangled laugh

"Hey baby can you help me with dinner?" Nana asked as she shuffled on the checkered floor to find the noodles for meal she was cooking

"Of course and the noodles are right here." I replied and grabbed the noodles that sat upon the microwave

"My eyesight is just going away." She chuckled and poured the noodles into the boiling pot of water

"What can I do?"

"Can you cook the sauce?"

"Of course."

After dinner we all said our thank you's and helped clean the kitchen. My nana then brought out a family album filled with awkward pictures of me and my family.

"You look so awkward it's adorable!" Frank exclaimed pointing to a picture of me during my first school dance

"Yeah, yeah." I giggled

"Oh! Let's look at some home videos of you and Jacob!" Nana exclaimed

"Nana!" I whined

"Oh c'mon." She laughed and put in a disc from my eighth birthday

The whole twenty minute video was filled with me playing with my new toys, smearing cake on Jacob, and trying not to let my tiara fall. It made many memories come back that I had long forgotten.

"So you've been a princess for a long time, huh?" Gerard whispered to me

"Shush." I whispered back and leaned my head on his arm

I looked at my nana who was trying to hold Ray's hand but he just giggled and blushed.
