Everyone was doing their own thing. They were cleaning their weapons or talking amongst themselves. I was cleaning the sniper next to the door. Jay and Carl were talking about god-knows-what and Daryl was checking out his crossbow. Rick and Judith were playing together. I smiled at them. The doors open to the barn as I pick up the sniper putting the scope back on it. Maggie comes through with a young man. I load the sniper and point it at the man. As everyone else was watching.
"Hey. Everyone This is Aaron. We met him outside." At this point everyone raised their weapons at the guy. Daryl walks up to him patting him down.
"He's by himself. We took his weapons and we took his gear." Aaron stand there smiling while we watch his movements.
"Hi. It's nice to meet you." He takes a step forward as I cock the gun back. He stays where he is at.
"You said he had a weapon? There's something you need?" Rick asked as Sasha hands him a gun. Looks like a toy.
"He has a camp, nearby. He wants us to audition for membership." Sasha says.
"I wish there was another word. Audition makes it sound like we're some kind of a dance troupe. That's only on Friday nights. Um, and it's not a camp. It's a community. I think you all would make valuable additions.
But it's not my call. My job is to convince you all to follow me back home. I know. If I were you, I wouldn't go either. Not until I knew exactly what I was getting into. Sasha, can you hand Rick my pack?" Sasha walks over to Rick taking off the back pack. Rick takes the back pack opening it up revealing an envelope."Front pocket, there's an envelope. There's no way I could convince you to come with me just by talking about our community. That's why I brought those. I apologize in advance for the picture quality. We just found an old camera store last," Aaron say as Daryl cuts him off.
"Nobody gives a shit."
"You're absolutely 100% right.
That's the first picture I wanted to show you because nothing I say about our community will matter unless you know you'll be safe. If you join us, you will be. Each panel in that wall is a 15-foot-high, 12-foot-wide slab of solid steel framed by cold-rolled steel beams and square tubing. Nothing alive or dead gets through that without our say-so. Like I said, security is obviously important.
In fact, there's only one resource more critical to our community's survival. The people. Together we're strong. You can make us even stronger. The next picture, you'll see inside the gates. Our community was first construc," Rick punches the guy in the face as Rosita and Daryl pick him right back up."So we're clear, that look wasn't a "let's attack that man" look. It was a "he seems like an okay guy to me" look." Michonne tells Rick.
"We got to secure him. Dump his pack. Let's see what this guy really is." Carl takes that pack and dumps it out.
"Everybody else, we need eyes in every direction. They're coming for us. We might not know how or when, but they are." Rick paces around as the other help the guy out.
"Me and Sasha, we didn't see him. If he had wanted to hurt us, he could've." Maggie says.
"Anybody see anything?" Rick ask.
"Just a lot of places to hide." Glenn looks out the window. Obviously we won't know who's out there unless the guy tells us or we go out there.
"Jay and I will survey the area." I tell them.
"Not a good idea. We don't know how many of them are out there. I'd rather you stay inside." Rick shakes his head.
"No we gotta check it out. We'll take care of ourselves, you guys make sure this guy is telling the truth. Try to get as much information as you can. We'll be back in a few minutes." Jay tells him as she takes the sniper off my hands. I grab my throwing knives and revolver.
