We tracked down the horse into an open field where the Walkers were.
"Gotta move quick. He's pinned in with them. I got the far ones." Daryl says as he shoots his crossbow. I take on the walkers close by as Aaron falls to the ground with a walker holding him.
"Hold on Aaron." I yell out as I finish taking out the walkers. Daryl stomps the Walker's head in and helps Aaron up.
"Thanks." Aaron says as a single walker heads for them. Aaron shoots taking it down.
"Thanks." Daryl says. The walkers finally got after the horse.
"I got the ones on the right." We go after the walkers and take them out while they chowed down on the horse. The horse laid there in pain.
"Go ahead." Aaron shoots the horse.
"He always ran." Aaron stood there in shock.
"You were trying to help him." Daryl says as we walk back to Alexandria.
Daryl and I head back to the house. It was empty. I guess Jay went to the party. Daryl took a shower as I went up stairs to the closet Jay and I shared. There was a dress on her bed. I picked it up to see it. There was a note that fell out. I picked it up and read it.
Look good tonight for Daryl. Love ya harls.
Yours truly, Jaybird
It was a short forest green a lined dress. She left black heels out. This girl is going to kill me. I slide the dress on and grab my black leather jacket putting it on. I threw the heels back into the closet and grabbed a new pair of combat boots. This was more my style.
Seconds later Daryl steps out of the bathroom in a buttoned up navy blue shirt and a new pair of denim jeans. He takes his vest and puts it back on. His hair was combed slightly as he looks at me.
"Wow." He says under his breath. I look down at the ground feeling my cheeks heat up.
"You clean up very well Mr. Dixon." I smile at him. I walk up to him and grab his hand as we walk to Deanna's house. We stood outside debating whether we should go in or not.
"I don't think we are ready for parties yet." I look at him as he nods his head. At least we tried. We walk down the street back to the house.
"Daryl. Harley. Hey." Aaron walks from inside his house to the porch.
"Thought you were going to that party over there." Daryl points back at Deanna's house.
"Oh, I was never going to go 'cause of Eric's ankle, thank God." Seriously dude.
"Why the hell did you tell us to go, then?" Daryl asked.
"I said try. You did. It's a thought that counts thing." Aaron chuckles.
"Alright." Daryl says as he grabs my hand to continue walking.
"Hey, come in. Have some dinner. Come on, man. It's some pretty serious spaghetti." Aaron walks back into the house as we stood out there.
"What you thinking?" Daryl looks at me.
"We can try it. Its just them two. " I shrug my shoulders. We walk into the house and already see four plates set out.
"I knew you two would come in. Spaghetti never fails." Eric chuckles as Aaron sits down. Daryl and I sit down and eat the spaghetti. Can I just explain how much I missed it. The sweet tomato sauce and noodles combined felt like I was dreaming. It was great.
"Thank you, this was very delicious."
"Thanks." Daryl says.
"Mmm, when you're out there, if you happen to be in a store or something, Mrs. Neudermyer is really looking for a pasta maker. And we're all really trying to get her to shut up about it.
I mean, we have crates of dried pasta in here, but she wants to make her own or something. I really think she just wants something to talk about, so if you see one out on your travels, it would go a long way to I thought it was done." Eric says. Daryl and I looked confused at the two men."Travels?" I asked setting my fork down.
"You didn't ask him already?" Eric looks at Aaron as we all stare at Aaron.
"Ask me what?" Daryl says.
"I'll show you." Aaron wipes his mouth with a napkin and gets up from the table. Daryl and I follow him to the garage.
"Go ahead." Aaron says as Daryl opens the garage door. Parts and tools were scattered around the place.
"When I got the place, there was that frame and some parts and equipment.
Whoever lived here built them." Aaron says as he stands next to us."It's a lot of parts for one bike." Daryl picks up a couple of parts studying them.
"Whenever I came across any parts out there, I brought them back. I didn't know what I'd need. I always thought I'd learn how to do it, but I get the feeling you already know what to do with it. And the thing is, you're going to need a bike."
"Why?" Daryl asked as he walks around the room looking at Aaron.
"I told Deanna not to give you a job because I think I have one for you.
I'd like you to be Alexandria's other recruiter. I don't want Eric risking his life anymore.""You want me risking mine, right?" Daryl says.
"Yeah, because you know what you're doing. You're good out there. But you don't belong out there. I know it's hard getting used to people getting used to you. And I understand right now you need to be out there sometimes. So do I. But the main reason why I want you to help me recruit is because you do know the difference between a good person and a bad person." Aaron states. I walk up to Daryl and wrap an arm around him as he does the same back.
"You can do this. It fits you well." I say. Daryl nods his head then looks back at Aaron.
"I got nothing else to do. Thanks." Daryl says.
"Yeah." Aaron grins.
"I'll get you some rabbits." Daryl says as I laugh. He looks down at me and smiles.
"Great." Aaron laughs. We walked back inside the house telling everyone goodbye and thank you for the meal. Daryl and I head back to the house falling asleep. And this time we didn't have to worry about keeping watch or sleeping with one eye open. We got to enjoy it. Morning hits as the four of us meet back up in the woods again.
"Take your pick." Carol asked us holding out guns.
"Look, I've been thinking. Do we really need these? I mean, things go bad, yeah, sure. We do what we gotta do, but it's like you said. We don't need these for that." Daryl says.
"Right now we don't." Carol says.
"You wanted me to try, right? I'm good." Daryl says. I look up at him and see a changed man. He actually wants this.
"Harley?" Carol holds the guns out to me.
"I'm armed all the time at the gate. You said we need to earn their trust and this is how we do it." I step back. Daryl smiles at me in approval. Rick takes one of the guns and shoves it in his back pocket.
We walk back into Alexandria splitting up into our separate ways. I stand by the gate as Daryl gives me a kiss and walks over to Aaron's house to fix the bike. This isn't so bad.
