"Ready to go?" Daryl asked as I packed our go bags. We were heading to town for supplies and some tools. Hopefully they can help with our dead crops and scavenging. I love going on runs especically now that we are at the sancuary. I could get away from the staring and whistles.
"Yeah, bike ready?" I asked as threw the bag over my shoulders and tossed Daryl his.
"Your bike still needs worked on. Missing a few peices but Ben is working on it. Should be ready it a few days according to him." I nod my head as I look over at Ben and my bike. He waves his hand as I waved back. Daryl climbs over the bike kicking the stool up. I smirked to myself, honestly I can never get over how hot that is when he doees that. I shake my head as the engine turns on. It roared to life as I climbed on behind him.
We take off out of the sancuary to the roads. I close my eyes as I held on tight to Daryl. Feeling that wind breeze past my face and throught my hair was so relaxing. I honestly forgot that the world went to shit. It was so peaceful and calming. I wish we could do this all the time.
"You alive back there?" I could make out what Daryl said over the wind.
"Yup." I responded back. Although it felt like a dream I knew this ride would end at somepoint. We get ready to pass the bridge and see Jerry on the horse.
"Clear to the rally point, dudes. See you on the flip." Jerry tells Daryl as I wave at him. He smiles and waves back as we ride past him and join up with the group. members from hilltop, alexanderia, the kingdom and oceanside. We all needed supplies but mostly we all join up to help others. This run was mostly for us since our crops are dying we weren't getting much food.
We finally arrived at the museum. We park their horses and our motorcycle as Rick and Michonne clear the way. Once the way was cleared we head toward the front entrance and open the doors.
"We're good for now. Sweep protocol when we get in." Michonne tells us as we pile into the building. As what most buildings look like now completely recked with things thrown all over the floor and walls. Dust and spider cobwebs are hanging off of items. Birds or crows were in the ceilings flying high trying to stay away from the walkers that were down below. As big as this building was there weren't many walkers inside.
"Y'all got your lists. Circle back here when you're done. Be safe." Rick tells us as we split up into groups. Daryl grabs my elbow stopping in in my tracks.
"They're going to the children section, you wanna go there or me?" Daryl points down the hall at a group.
"I'll go. You get the rest of the supplies. Be safe." I nod my head.
"You be safe." He tells me as we go our separate ways.
I followed the group not so close behind. I've actually never met any of these people in this group. I know that it was one from each group but I've never seen them before. The person that was leading this group was from hilltop. He let us down some stairs as I couldn't hear the rest of the group that Daryl was with. It seemed to get quieter as we walked further.
"This way." The guy said as we turn the corner.
We finally ended up in the childrens section of the museum. I didn't think it would take this long. I started collecting books and throwing them into my go bag. There was a loud banging from across the room. There were double doors that were boarded, chained up and shaking. The group look at each other unsure of what to do.
"It'll hold, just don't be loud. It will attract more and then the doors will collapse." I tell them as I move on to a different spot.
I walked over to the display counter throwing in a few dolls or action figures into my bag. It started filling up as I look on to the other side of the room. there were building blocks, towers and models of airplanes. The kids will love these. As we finished grabbing all that we could we head back up stairs to join the rest of the group.
I am not sure what it's called but it looks kind of like a carriage. A metal carriage that Rick wants us to roll or carry out of this building. I am not even sure if it's gonna fit through the front entrance. But what the heck. We all tie ropes on the carriage as we try to get it down the stairs and out the door. The tricky part was to get it across the glass floor that had walkers below us. The same walkers that were on the other side of the double doors in the childrens section.
We finally get it to the glass floor as everyone was freaking out. They kept saying it won't hold. But really they are just exaggerating. It wasn't that bad. Yes the thing is heavy as crap but we are all fine. They turn the carriage wheels as it started to crack the glass. As they rolled the carriage off of the glass floor they now have to carry the ploughs in the boat across it. We tie ropes around each other to make sure that we don't fall through now that the glass has cracked. It could give in at any second.
"No sudden moves. Just keep going nice and slow." Rick tells us.
Maggie, Carol and one other person carries one side of the plough as Daryl and Rick carry the canoe. Carol, Ezekiel and I carry the other plough. The glass started to creak even more as it spread like wild fire.
"You got to go!" Rick yells as Ezekiel and I push the plough and Carol forward to make it onto the concrete floor. The glass gives in as Ezekiel and I fall throught the floor. My hands catch on the bar with glass holding myself up. Ezekiel hangs there on his rope as the group holds him up.
"Get him! I'm fine!" I yell as I try to pull myself up. The glass cuts into my hands as I put pressure on them. I could feel the walkers pulling at my shoes and feet. They pull on the rope pulling Ezekiel up to the floor as I throw one of my legs onto the glass floor pulling myself up. I ran across the glass floor and joined the rest of the group as Daryl pulls me into a bear hug.
"You alright?" He asked as I nod my head. He grabs my hands and bandages them up. They were cut deep.
"I'm fine. I promise." I look at him as he nods his head. We look at Carol and Ezekiel as they were kissing and hugging each other. We could have lost each other in the matter of seconds.
We load the horses and gear up as we head out of the city back to our homes. Daryl and I clear the way for the horses and the rest of the group. The metal carriage was extremely heavy for the horses.
