Rick and a few members from his group along with Abraham leave the church, it was a plan they made. Made it look like the stronger members of the group went to go hunt down Gareth's group but really they were hiding in the woods. We all hid in the office room while I was ready to shoot the next person that opened the door. I could hear them scraping their tools against the church doors. Carl stands up with his gun along with Jay. Tyreese holding Judith and watched over Bob. Gabriel and Eugene hid in a corner. Rosita had her gun ready. The front church doors open. I could hear their foot steps echo. I shush the group in the room.
"Well, I guess you know we're here.
And we know you're here. And we're armed. So there's really no point in hiding anymore. We've been watching you. We know who's here. There's Bob, unless you've put him out of his misery already. And Eugene. Rosita. Martin's good friend Tyreese. Carl. Judith. Jay. Harley." Gareth's voice echoed through out the church. A sickening feeling hit my stomach. Jay breathes heavily.
"Rick and the rest walked out with a lot of your guns. Listen, we don't know where you all are, but this isn't a big place. So let's just stop this now before things get more painful than they need to be." I could hear footsteps near the door as they rattle the door knob. I look at Carl and nod my head.
"Look, you're behind one of these two doors and we have more than enough firepower to take down both. Can't imagine that's what you all want." I could hear the guns cock. Rosita stands up next to Carl, Jay and I.
"How about the priest? Father, you help us wrap this up, we'll let you walk away from this. Just open the door and you can go. You can take the baby with you. What do you say?" Judith starts crying. My head snaps back as Carl walks over to her.
"I don't know. Maybe we'll keep the kid. I'm starting to like this girl. It's your last chance right now to tell us you're coming out." We all stayed quiet. I could hear Gareth and another guy talking period then two gunshots. I could hear the bodies hitting the ground.
"The rest of the group is here. Be ready. They could still come in." I sighed.
"Put your guns on the floor." I could here Ricks voice.
"Rick, we'll fire right into that office.
So you lower your gun- - Ah!" I could hear Gareth's voice.
"Put your guns on the floor and kneel." I held my gun steady.
"Do what he says. Martin, there's no choice here." I could hear them getting on the ground by the sound of the floor creaking.
"Yeah, there is." The Martin guy said.
"Want to bet?" I could hear Abraham's deep voice.
"No point in begging, right?"
"No." Rick said clearly.
"Still, you could have killed us when you came in. There had to be a reason for that." Gareth groaned in pain.
"We didn't want to waste the bullets." I could hear guns being set down.
"We used to help people. We saved people. Things changed. They came in and-- After that I know that you've been out there, but I can see it. You don't know what it is to be hungry. You don't have to do this. We can walk away. And we will never cross paths again. I promise you."
"But you'll cross someone's path. You'd do this to anyone, right? Besides, I already made you a promise." I could hear the screaming and blood splattering on to the floor.
I knew Rick was going to take care of Gareth's group. That'll be the end of Gareth. We will no longer have to deal with him. Tyreese opens the door peeking out. I guess he regretted that when he backs up away from the door with a shocked expression on his face. I walked out of the room shoving the gun in my pocket looking around the church. There's blood everywhere and everyone was out of breath. Everyone but Maggie, Glenn and Tara. Those three wore the same facial expression Tyreese wore, shocked. I look down on the floor and see Gareth's body laying there. A smile appeared on my face as I finally feel relieved. This monster can no longer do harm.
"It could have been us." Rick comforts us.
"This is the Lord's house." Gabriel gasp silently. As the rest of the group piles out of the office.
"No. It's just four walls and a roof." Maggie utters.
That night we kept watch. At least I did with Jay, Rick and Abraham. Everyone else was either looking after Bob or sleeping. I couldn't see how they could sleep. I never could. Not until I know I was in a safe place. Not until Daryl was back.
