Maddie's POVToday is October 31st, or, Halloween! I may be 19, but I can still act like I'm a kid. You're never too old to enjoy the spookiness of Halloween, which also means you're never too old to trick or treat. Although, I'm not trick or treating tonight.
I stealthily walk into Luke's bedroom and bite my lip, careful not to make any noises that would wake him up. I shook him lightly and whispered, "Luke, get up. Wake up," but to no avail, he didn't wake up.
I walked back downstairs and saw my mum in the kitchen, cooking breakfast. I walked over to her and kissed her cheek.
"Morning mum. Happy Halloween," I smiled softly.
"Morning sweetie. Happy Halloween as well. Oh, have you decided on a costume for tonight?" She asked me, making me shake my head.
"No, not yet. I can't come up with anything," I replied honestly, sighing deeply.
"I'm like the only one who doesn't have a costume, mum. Luke, Ben, Jack, Michael, Ashton, Lauren, Harry, Calum, Mali, and Tabby all have theirs. I don't know," I shrugged, getting a glass down from the mahogany cabinets and filling it with apple juice.
Mum stood there for a few agonizingly silent minutes, thinking sharply about how to help.
"Well, you could always go as a doctor. I mean, it is your dream job, why not make it happen on the one night you don't have to be an official one," mum suggested, turning her attention back to the griddle she was cooking her famous pancakes on.
I thought about it for a couple of moments, debating whether to seal the deal or not. I finally shook myself from that deep internal debate before I started over thinking too much, averting my gaze to the ceiling.
"I don't know, mum. I mean, Tabby is going as Letty from Fast and Furious, Ashton is going as a Men In Black character, Calum is going as Superman, Luke is an Air Force Pilot, Mali is an Angel, Jack is a Doctor, Ben is a Skelton, Michael is Peter Pan, Lauren is being a Martial Arts student, and Harry is a Fireman. I just...I don't have a cl-,"
I paused abruptly and thought, then grinned.
"I've got it! I know what I'm being, thank you, mum." I hugged her as I rushed upstairs to my room. As soon as I got to my door, I shut it and pulled out my phone, dialing Calum's number. He picked up on the second ring.
"Hi, baby girl. Happy Halloween," he cheered into the phone. I laughed lightly and bit my lip.
"Hi, baby. Happy Halloween as well," I replied ecstatically.
"Guess what?" I added smiling. "I finally figured out a costume for tonight. It took a while, but I got it," I declared proudly.
"That's good, I can't wait to see it tonight. You're going to look as beautiful as always, baby girl. Can I have a hint?" He questioned hopefully, making me laugh.
"Nope," I responded, popping the p.
"Why not, you know what I'm going as," he retaliated.
"You'll see in a few hours, babe. In the meantime, do you want to hang out? I could meet you somewhere or something," I paused, sighing deeply.
"Actually, nevermind. I just realized how insanely clingy I sound, so, nevermind," I affirmed, biting my lip.
I heard a light laugh on the other end of the phone, making my stomach knot from embarrassment.
"Hey," Calum expressed, ceasing afterwards. "You don't sound clingy, baby girl. You're far from clingy, in fact. We can hang out, but you're coming over here because I'm too lazy to move," he expatiates, making me chuckle faintly.
