Maddie's POV

"Calum, we need to start helping your mum set up the house for the bash," I nudged him, biting my lip. He nodded and stood up, me following in his actions. We walked into the kitchen and greeted Joy, then I turned my attention to the multiple bags containing party items.

"What do you want us to set up first?" I politely asked, pulling different varieties of objects out of the bags.

"If you would, will you please set up the backyard?" Joy asked in an ever so softly tone, making me smile.

"Of course," I kissed her cheek like I do to all the mums, then grabbed a handful of bags and walked outside to start decorating.

"Calum, babe, you're not just going to sit on your ass," I informed him, making him put his hands up in defense.

"I'm here to help, baby girl. I'm here to reach the high places," he joked, earning an amused smile from me.

"Just keep rubbing in your height," I sighed, pulling a light pout. "Being short sucks," I continued. Calum walked over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, resting his chin on the top of my head.

"No, it doesn't. It makes you even more adorable, if possible," he mumbled against my hair as he pressed a soft kiss there. I closed my eyes in comfort and placed my hands on top of his, intertwining our fingers.

"You're only saying that to make me feel better about being short," I laughed lightly, then bit my lip.

"No, I'm not just saying that. I mean everything I tell you, but just to check, did it work?" He questioned, pulling a smug smile.

I laughed lightly again and nodded, biting my lip again. "Honestly? Yeah, it did," I responded, kissing his cheek.

"Good, because it's all true. You're perfect the way you are, and I love you so, so much," he smiled, kissing me softly.

I kissed him back and smiled, then pushed him away lightly. "Okay, okay, that's enough. We need to set up," I ordered, making him groan. I glared at him and he surrendered down, beginning to set up.

*After everything is set up*

"Madison, will you get the door for me please?" Mrs. Hood politely asked, working in the kitchen.

"Yes, Mrs. Hood," I reply, walking to the door and answering it, meeting the hazel eyes of Ashton Irwin.

"Ashton! Hi," I said as I hugged him, him returning the action. I let him and his family inside, then shut the door. I walked over to Calum and whispered in his ear.

"I'm going to change into my costume, now. I'll be back," I bite my lip and kissed his cheek, then went upstairs into his room, changing into my costume. (Costume on the side. It's Tris Prior from Divergent because I'm in love with the outfit.)
