Maddie's POV

February 16th. It may not be a special date to anyone, but it is to me. This day marks one year that Calum and I have been dating. I'm so thankful for him, he's just the best person ever. I love him so much.

Though, he has been distant the last few days. Going out and not coming back for hours, telling me it's work related, then constantly on his phone. I normally despise making immediate assumptions, but with everything happening these few days, I have an overwhelming feeling in the pit of my stomach that there's something going on.

I keep trying to find a different possible scenario on why he's been so distant, but nothing is coming to mind. I've been denying this thought ever since it made an appearance, but it just keeps haunting me and won't go away.

Is he cheating on me? I keep repeating the question in my mind, starting to feel tears well up just thinking about it. I'm pulled out of my thoughts when I hear the front door open, indicating that Calum's back.

I'll fill you in on some details. Calum asked me to move in with him, and despite Luke's objections, he finally let me. So, we found our own apartment that's only a ten minute drive to my house. Everything's been going great, until now.

I wipe my eyes quickly and look over at Calum, watching as he drops his things by the door. "Hey, baby girl," he smiles softly at me and walks over, kissing my cheek.

"Hi," I sighed softly and laced my fingers together, upset that he completely forgot about our anniversary. Not only did he forget our anniversary, but he's also cheating? I need to stop falling for people.

"I'll be back, okay? I just need to piss," he stands up and walks to the bathroom, then I heard the door shut and sighed.

"Nice," I muttered quietly, then saw his phone out of the corner of my eye on the couch. You shouldn't do this, Maddie. My conscience was begging me to trust Calum, but this has happened enough times for me to not listen. I took in a deep breath and grabbed his phone, unlocking it and pulling up his messages.

Stop, put it down! I just couldn't, I need to confirm my overpowering thought. I pulled up his recent messages, seeing them consist of his mum, Mali, the guys, and me. The last one, however, made my heart drop.

Danielle? I shakily clicked on the contact and scrolled through all of his messages, their conversation starting with her asking if he could come over. My eyes brimmed with tears as the messages progressed, then I completely froze on the most recent sent message.

I'm on my way over there, I'll see you soon. I love you. I heard the bathroom door open and I closed out of his messages, then looked down as I held his phone in my hands.

"So, baby girl, what should we d-" he paused at my silence. I looked up at him with a few tears falling, and he looked at me with worry. His eyes scanned down to my hands, and his expression completely changed. I saw his jaw clench a little and he ripped his phone out of my hands, and I could tell he was angry.

"What the hell were you doing on my phone?" He crossed his arms sternly, glaring at me. I bit my lip and gulped, trying to think about my words carefully.

"I-I," his glare got more powerful, and he began tapping his foot impatiently while waiting on my answer.

"Well? Tell me!" He raised his voice, making me flinch. I looked down and felt more tears threatening to fall, taking deep breaths so I would stay calm. After seeing those messages, I knew I was right. I felt anger and sadness start to build up, making me look back up at him.
