Chapter 3

Beyoncé hung up the phone and looked over to Tanya with annoyance written all over her face. It was just like her sister to believe every word that came from a five year old's mouth. Bey knew how her daughter was and she knew that the girl could lie her behind off.

"What did she want?" Tanya questioned, picking up the cheese cube and placing it in her mouth.

"To be wrong like she always is." Beyoncé rolled her eyes.

Tanya chuckled, shaking her head. "This event is kind of nice." Beyoncé had been invited to a celebrity gala. It was unusual for her to come out of hiding to play around with the industry, but she needed to do a bit of networking. Every blue moon, she would come out to play and go right back into hiding. Making herself a secretive had been her key to success.

"Yeah, but I need you not to act like a groupie. There are celebrities here, yes, but you're best friends with one."

"I'm best friends with a celebrity that doesn't take me around other celebrities," Tanya hissed back. Beyoncé's lack of involvement in the industry was part of the reason that many people liked her. She liked for her work to speak for itself, rather than her having to promote it.

"Ms. Beyoncé?" An older male's voice spoke from behind the seated women. Beyoncé turned and looked up to the man. He wore a nice suit, but she knew that he was only coming to deliver a message.

"Yes?" Beyoncé asked.

"Mr. Shawn Carter has requested you to come to his table when you have a moment."

Beyoncé smirked. She knew who Shawn Carter was and knew how he rolled. He booked meetings and felt that people were always on his time. "Could you tell Mr. Carter that Ms. Beyoncé said no?"

The man was taken back. No one had ever denied Shawn's meetings. "Are you sure?"

"Positive." Reluctantly, the man retreated back to where he came from.

Tanya frowned. "Who is Shawn Carter?"

"He's the head of the largest magazine in the world. He owns the only magazine that can give Vogue a run for their money."

"So, why are you denying him a meeting? I thought you came to network. If he owns the biggest magazine, you need to be over there talking to him."

"Do I look like a damn dog that comes when a man tells me so? He wants to talk? He can bring his ass to me."

Tanya looked over to Beyoncé with amusement. She loved when the girl acted tough. When it came to men, Beyoncé dismissed them left to right. She had been rumored to be with several celebrities, but Beyoncé could tell you straight up that she hadn't even met half of them.

"Is he cute?" Tanya asked.

Beyoncé shrugged her shoulders. "I've only heard of him. I've never seen him. I just know if you see him, you'll know it's him."

"How?"

"Have you ever seen power walk?"

Tanya narrowed her eyes and shook her head. She could tell that Beyoncé could envision what she was referring to. "No."

"You'll see it if he has the balls to come to me."

Tanya chuckled. "If you say he's about power, I doubt you intimidate him, girl. He sounds like he has bank."

"That's because he does," Beyoncé told her. "But, bank means nothing to me. My imagine does."

Tanya rolled her eyes and turned in her seat to get a better look at Beyoncé. "You haven't had sex since Gabrielle was conceived. I'm going to need you to straddle this dick, ma'am."
