Chapter 11

It was as if the room had stopped spinning with the news that Beyoncé had delivered to Shawn. He couldn't believe his ears one bit, but knew that was serious. She'd explained to him that Giselle said something that had pissed her off, causing her to need to get away from everyone.

"What did she say?" Shawn had asked her.

Beyoncé explained that while Beyoncé was telling Giselle that she clearly didn't care about her niece's wellbeing and protection, Giselle quickly defended herself, slipping out Gabrielle's name in the process. The slip up happened live on television, and when they both realized it, it was too late. Beyoncé was infuriated with the fact that the world now had a name. Before the interview, people didn't even have a gender.

The slip up caused her to go to the beach to get away from everything. She knew that her life was rapidly changing, and it wasn't something that anyone could prepare her for. The world now knew a secret she'd held in for nearly six years. The world now knew that she had a daughter named Gabrielle and if they could do simple math, they knew she was five years old. All the information seemed like too much information.

While on the beach, Beyoncé's phone continued to ring. Every time she looked at the device, it was Shawn calling.

"I didn't want to talk to you," she helplessly explained to him. "I didn't want to talk to anybody!"

Shawn nodded his head, understanding where she was coming from. He knew that he'd been extremely upset to a point where he just needed to be alone. The difference between the two of them was that Shawn left the state to be alone.

"I turned it off and I just kept thinking. I thought everything from the beginning. I thought about the future and everything that could possibly happen. I lost track of time, and when I finally realized it, I immediately ran to my car and turned my phone on. I didn't check anything, I called Gabby's school, realizing I was about two hours later."

Shawn narrowed his eyes, realizing where this story was about to turn. "I talked to them and they explained to me that my baby hadn't been the same or something. She'd been acting different and keeping to herself. That's not like Gabby. She's bubbly, always in your face. On the defense, I asked, why didn't the teacher tell me about it sooner. They give me bullshit about how I seemed busy, and how they noticed she was being picked up in a black SUV, never once questioning if I was in the backseat. I don't just have people picking my baby up. I'm finally told that Child Protective Services were called and oh God."

Shawn's eyes widened. "Beyoncé, where is your daughter? Is she downstairs?"

"Someone has been telling CPS that I have my child around people she doesn't know. They told them that I have unauthorized people picking her up, putting her in danger. That along with teacher statements....Giselle has her."

"Has her? What do you mean, has her?"

Beyoncé wiped her eyes and took a deep breath. She'd dealt with it and had done as much crying as she was going to do for the day. She didn't even plan on crying, but the moment she hit the elevators, it hit her that she wouldn't be taking her baby girl back home.

"They placed her in my sister's care. Apparently my situation with the media isn't the best situation with a child that is being [neglected]."

"Neglected?!" Shawn shouted, startling Beyoncé. "I've watched you cook for your daughter, help her with her homework, play with her hands on, and read her a book before she goes to bed. Where is the neglect?!"

Beyoncé eyed him. "How did you see all that?"

Shawn waved her off. "I have cameras, Beyoncé. It was the reason I told you to make sure you and your daughter changed in the bathrooms only." She didn't care for that information. Bey had actually listened to that advice and made sure they didn't change anywhere other than the bathroom.
