Chapter 26

"Ethan, grab Mommy's hand," Giselle said with a more annoyed tone of voice. She looked around the park quickly, suddenly not feeling safe anymore. She hated the feeling that she always had to look over her shoulders now that she had technically been on the run.

"Why?" Ethan whined as he looked back to all the children that he had been playing with. They had been at the park for only fifteen minutes when Giselle's paranoia went into overdrive. She hated when it happened, but she had always been told to follow her instincts.

"Because I said so!" She snapped at her three year old son before grabbing a hold of his hand. Ethan tried his hardest to pull away from his mother, but all it took was for her to stop and give him any angry glare for him to straighten his act up and get with the program. They were leaving the park for the day, but she knew that they would be back soon enough.

Giselle wobbled to her car with her son in tow and buckled him into the car seat in the backseat. Ethan had tears in his eyes as he looked past his mother to the other children playing. He hadn't been out there long enough to have fun and he would be swept right back into his home to sit around with his pregnant mother.

For eight months, Giselle had lived in Houston, Texas. Half of the first month was spent in a hotel as she spent most of her time looking for a place to stay. She needed to get out of the hotel and into a cozier place for her toddler. She found a two bedroom apartment and immediately moved in with little to nothing. Dipping into her savings account wasn't something that she planned on doing anytime soon, but Giselle found that she had no choice.

That notion rang true when she found out that she was indeed pregnant. The news that she was pregnant was a shock to her, and she wanted to end it all. She wanted to put a stop to everything, but she couldn't find it in herself to terminate the pregnancy. Anyone would tell her that it was probably the best decision, given the news of her ex husband, but Giselle had been there and done that. She couldn't terminate two pregnancies in a row. It wasn't in her nature, and she had reason to believe that she was obviously supposed to have another child.

A week after finding out that she was pregnant, it seemed as if God had been looking out for her. She found a nice job as a company's public relations manager. Giselle was more than qualified for the job given her work with molding and helping to shape the reputations of celebrities.

Giselle drove through the streets of Houston, Texas. Her eyes continued to look in her rearview mirror to make sure that she wasn't being followed. In the beginning months, she had nothing to worry about. She had the head start that she needed, but now, Ryan could be after her. The last thing she wanted was for him to find her eight months pregnant.

She pulled into the parking lot of the grocery store and went around to get her son out of the car. Her eyes scanned their surroundings before she picked him up to hurry into the building. She winced a bit at having a three year old on her huge stomach, but breathed out relief once they got into the store and was able to get a cart.

"Mommy, I wan' candy."

"No," Giselle replied quickly.

"Yes," Ethan defiantly remarked. The two shared a look. Ethan was more angry, and Giselle wasn't sure why he was testing her patience at a moment like this. Normally, she would have all the patience in the world for her baby boy, but being pregnant, her patience had gone out of the window. She wished that Ethan was more understanding to that, but he was only three. He couldn't understand.

"Ethan. Stop it." It was her last and final warning for the toddler before she went ahead with her shopping. Gis hated doing it alone, but she had to. She had the be a mother to her baby boy all while preparing to be a mother to another little tyke.
