Chapter 24
Beyoncé dug into her chocolate ice cream waffle cone as she thought back to the house that she'd just looked at. Moving had been on her mind for a while, and recent events only made her want to take the official step. She looked over to Tanya as she dropped the sunglasses down on her face, frowning a bit at the sight of the paparazzi. They weren't extremely crazy, but it was still something that she wasn't used to.
"How'd you like the house?" Tanya asked Beyoncé after deciding that she couldn't do anything about the people taking pictures of her and her best friend.
Bey smirked as she thought back on the house. It was a beautiful, modern three bedroom home. It was recently built, which meant that it was essentially up to date, but Beyoncé had a few concerns. "I'm looking for a house to live in for a while. Gabby and I can't stay in a condo forever. She's getting older, you know? Part of the reason I want to be away from a condo is because I want her to have a backyard."
"Yeah, that one really didn't give you much space on the outside, but it had plenty on the inside. It reminds me of your current condo, actually."
Bey shrugged. "And that's a problem. I want to branch out."
Tanya nodded her head. "Well, what about the one before that one?"
The four bedroom, two bathroom home was everything that Beyoncé could have imagined in a home. It was one of those homes that you raised a family in. She related it to the houses you see in movies that people raised their families and dogs in. It was the house you settled down in. "I loved it. It was beautiful and great for if I ever get a family."
Tanya laughed softly. "I can move in until you do. I saw a cute room that would make a great nursery."
Beyoncé chuckled and rolled her eyes. "I'm glad you think I'm going to have babies running around my house anytime soon. But, if you help with that price tag, by all means, pack your shit."
The $1,600,000 price tag wasn't something that Beyoncé was prepared for. One thing she learned from her house hunting times was that Los Angeles was an expensive place to live. When you wanted to buy a house to expand in the future, it grew pricey. Beyoncé wasn't necessarily broke. She simply wasn't as rich as her boyfriend was.
Tanya nodded her head. "I talked to Xavier," she confessed softly. Ever since she decided to keep the baby, she had always contemplated on whether or not telling him that she was pregnant was the best decision. At one point, she decided against it, because she didn't know if she wanted to further deal with Xavier. Their last encounter had simply broken her.
Bey eyed her for a moment. "What happened?"
"Somebody told him about my pregnancy," Tanya started. "I don't know who, but I know it wasn't long before someone would say something to him. He came over while I was getting ready for work and immediately started interrogating me."
"So he was hostile?"
Tanya shrugged. "He was more pissed off with the fact that I hadn't told him rather than I was pregnant. He kept saying that I should've told him."
Beyoncé sighed. "Okay, you should've told him. What does he want? Does he want to be there for you?"
Tanya nodded her head. "We've decided to co-parent. I made it clear that I want nothing else from him. I don't want his friendship or relationship. I just want him to be there for our child, and if he can't do that..." Tanya shrugged her shoulders. The last thing she would do was chase down a man to raise his own child. She wasn't about that life and wouldn't start anytime soon.
"Good. How are you feeling so far, though?"
"I'm anxious," Tanya happily said as she rubbed her stomach. She was getting closer and closer to finding out the gender of her baby, and she couldn't wait. "I want to meet my baby and be like you."
