Chapter 21
Giselle looked around the empty two bedroom apartment. Everything was spotless. She'd cleaned and cleaned until she couldn't clean enough. She'd cooked three different dishes, but touched none of them. She watched countless reality show episodes, but couldn't tell you a thing about them. That was how Giselle was spending the beginning of her Saturday morning.
She was sulking.
Removing herself from the couch, Giselle grabbed her glass of champagne and walked around the her long window. She looked at the beauty that was Los Angeles, California and smiled to herself a bit. She wished that she could enjoy it, but she couldn't. She was dealing with too much and disguising it every single day. Every day, she painted on her makeup and smiled about everything. She used the fact that she was a great mother to her baby boy as an advantage. As long as Ethan was fine, she was great.
But, Giselle knew that she was hurting abundantly. She'd lost her marriage to cheating. She didn't know if it were her fault or not, but she knew that she was the one that was hurting the most. Ryan didn't seem to care too much over the fact that he was about to be a single man. Hell, he'd been living single for most of their marriage.
He would come and bring Ethan to her, give her a small update, and just look at her for a moment. It was like he wanted to say something to her, but he couldn't. Something was holding him back, and Giselle couldn't help but think it was the fact that he was still dealing with his other child's mother.
"This is pathetic," she commented before sitting the glass down on the nearest end table. Giselle never imagined she'd have to separate her family. She never imagined cooly telling a group of women that she'd had an abortion with a child that was made during her marriage.
She lost her husband.
She lost her family.
She felt like she was losing herself.
Giselle opened her eyes back up to look at the water that cascaded down her body. She couldn't help but look at the shadow created by her form. It was a larger shadow than the previous month. Exercise hadn't been a friend of hers since her divorce was set into motion. The only exercise she got nowadays was running after a two year old, but that wasn't even an everyday thing now.
Her baby boy wasn't something that she could always come home to after a long day at work. There were days that she would open the door to her new apartment and hear nothing. She hated it. She hated the feeling of being alone, because she'd spent so many years being with somebody. At the age of twenty five, Giselle was lost on how to be a single woman.
She gathered herself from the shower and immediately went to start her day. She put on her makeup that was usually minimal until they applied more at work. She grabbed a black pantsuit and put her hair into a ponytail. It was the normal "Giselle look". Ever since she realized who her sister wanted to be, Giselle made the conscience decision that she didn't want to show herself sexily.
At the age of 19, she was already in love with the man that loved her tenderly. She didn't see the reason to show her cleavage or her body when her sister was doing it. The two had the same form and same size bras. Ryan liked Giselle for who she was, and knew that mini dresses and sleeveless gowns just weren't going to happen with her. He took it in stride and didn't force her to be a different way.
"Here are the stories you'll report on today," Regina said as she entered Giselle's office. She sat down before her friend and examined her. A month had gone by, but she could see the changes in her friend. Giselle used to be a lovely woman, but things had changed. Her husband had an affair and created another baby. She stayed with said man, knowing her unhappiness. Now, she was divorcing him, leading to even more unhappiness. Regina couldn't allow her to see the great things that could come from this, because Giselle was looking at the current situation.
