Chapter 30

Giselle smiled into the phone as she listened to Milan talk to her about him finding the cupcake ATM machine that she had told him about. Today was the day that he had decided to actually go walk the city to see all the features that it had. He had woken up bright and early that morning to show her a list of places that he wanted to see, and Giselle simply pointed him into the direction of each. Sadly, she wouldn't be able to join him on the first part as she had some things that she needed to do.

"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself and your cupcake," Giselle said with a smile.

"Don't worry, fatty. I bought you one, too."

Giselle laughed. "I surely was going to leave your ass in Los Angeles had you not."

Milan laughed softly. "I figured, but have you talked to your sister, yet? I forgot what time you told her."

"Forgot or your ass just wasn't listening to me during your porn."

"It wasn't porn," he defended quickly. Milan had purchased a movie for them to watch. The entire movie seemed to be about nothing but sex, sending Giselle into the world of pretending to watch while she ventured on her phone. During the movie, she found herself checking on her children and texting Beyoncé, but she never received a text back from her.

"It may as well had been. But, I told her two o'clock. I haven't gotten a response from her, though."

"It's only noon."

"Only? But anyways, I'm about to go talk to my old co-workers. I'll meet up with you if I have time, okay?"

"Alright. Have fun."

Gis smirked. "Same to you." She hung the phone up and hopped out of her rented SUV. She grabbed her royal blue Saint Laurent purse and smoothed down her peach colored knee length dress. She couldn't help but feel a certain way about walking into her old place of employment. Everyone had been so supportive of her and things weren't bad between them. She had received the mail from her old place, and they were still sending her mail to wish her luck on her endeavors.

"Giselle!" Her old boss exclaimed with happiness the moment that he saw her walk inside. He walked over and pulled her into a hug. "You look great."

"Thank you. You haven't aged one bit."

"Still the same Giselle," he said with a laugh. "How have you been, though? We haven't heard from you since you quit."

Giselle shrugged as they walked through the building. She waved at anyone that spoke to her. "I've been great. I left for Houston, had another baby, and now I'm just here to visit."

"Another baby? Oh, I remember the many times you told me you wanted another. Did you have that little girl you always wanted?"

Sadly, Giselle shook her head. She wouldn't dwell on the fact that she had another little boy, because she loved Dylan so much. It had always been her wish to have a little boy and a little girl. "I think God is setting me up for something better by giving me two boys first."

"Ah, extra protection," he commented, already knowing. "Well, I know you didn't truly come to see me. Regina is in her office."

Giselle thanked him and strolled into her best friend's office. She hadn't spoken to Regina since their last encounter, and she knew that she had a lot to talk to her about. Regina was the only person that knew that Giselle was going to board a plane and leave her old life behind.

Gis stood by the office door and watched her as she studied the paper sitting on her desk. She has a highlighter in one hand and was focused on the important parts. It was something that Giselle had taught her. She would always take away the important parts or things that conflicted. "Still working hard?"
