Chapter 14

Shawn sat in his home office and did his business. It was about eleven o'clock at night, and had been about two hours since he came back home from the event. It didn't take him long to realize that his phone was missing, but he was thankful that he had two phones with the same number. The downside of it was that Beyoncé had his primary phone and he was hoping that she wasn't going through it.

The phone rang and he saw that it was his assistant. It was alarming that she was calling at this time of night, but he was sure that she had a good reason.

"Yes?" Shawn answered.

"Mr. Carter, Ms. Knowles's sister has been blowing the office phone up."

"You have the messages forwarded tonight, huh?"

"Sadly," she answered. "I talked to her and she said that she can't find her sister anywhere and wanted to know if you knew her whereabouts."

Shawn breathed out. Getting into the personal lives of his employees wasn't something he liked doing. He wanted everything to strictly business. When it came to Beyoncé, he was finding it hard to just mind his business, especially given the fact that telling her business was part of her contract. He wanted to make her more accessible and human to people, for that, they needed to be able to relate to her. "Did she leave a number?"

"Yes." Shawn grabbed a pen and began writing down the recited number that he was given. He thanked his assistant and wished her a goodnight before dialing Giselle's number.

"Hello?" Giselle answered in a small panic.

"Hi, Giselle? This is Shawn.."

"Carter? Hi! Is my sister with you by any chance?"

Shawn leaned back in his chair. He couldn't and wouldn't think the worst when it came to Beyoncé. He'd noticed that when she wanted to be alone, she took the steps rather quickly. "No, I haven't seen her for about two hours, but I do think that she's fine."

Giselle sighed. "I would agree with you had her best friend not given me information on some things she's said."

"Like what, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Well," Giselle started, "she's making it seem like her only purpose in life is to show her body and doesn't think anyone will wife her because she has nothing to exclusively offer her man. She's also thinking that she's a bad mother."

"Do you have anything to do with that?" Shawn boldly asked. He knew that he was probably in the wrong for asking, but he read the blog post and knew that Giselle didn't make it her mission to speak highly of her sister. Instead, she went out of her way to bash and dehumanize the woman for choices that didn't hurt anyone.

"Look, I don't need a speech. I just needed to know if you've seen or heard from my sister."

"No, I haven't," Shawn answered. He looked to his laptop and began turning on his phone locator. He figured that wherever his phone was, Beyoncé was there, as well.

Giselle huffed. "Alright, well, if you happen to talk to her, could you please let her know I'm looking for her?"

"Of course." Shawn hung up and waited for his laptop to find her location. If he were to find her, he'd have to make a decision about whether he would go see her or not. He hated the way that things were flowing, but Beyoncé needed to be treated differently. He couldn't have himself falling for someone, especially an employee.

Once he got the location, he smirked at the fact that she wasn't actually too far. He didn't think that she'd be in another city, but the girl was actually in a hotel downtown. Shawn picked up his cellphone and dialed the hotel's front desk.
