"I hope you had a good birthday," I say to Daphne, sitting my tea down on the glass table.
"I did," she confirms. "And I hope you enjoyed your stay."
"I did for sure. Maxon and the kids love it here. This place is beautiful."
"Thank you."
"Stop!" Ahren cries.
We look over to Ahren who's sitting on the floor and Eadlyn who's standing above him.
"What are you two doing?" I ask.
"She keeps pushing me," he complains.
"We're playing tag stupid," she comments.
"Hey. That's not a nice word," I scold.
"So?"
"Don't say it."
"Fine."
"Do you know where your dad is?"
"Outside?"
"Yeah. How about you both go get him?"
They look at each other then nod and run out.
I sigh and sit back.
"They're so cute," Daphne says.
I glance at Kaden who's asleep on a cushion next to me on the leather couch.
"Yes, but they're always full of energy."
"That's a good thing."
"Sometimes. Most times, it's exhausting."
"But you love them."
"Of course I do. With all of my heart and soul."
She smiles. I smile and grab my tea.
Not much later the kids come in, followed by Maxon. The kids go back to playing while he walks over to me.
"You needed me, my dear?"
"I did. I always need my amazing husband."
He smirks at me.
"What's up?" he asks.
"I just wanted to send them away for a minute," I quietly respond.
He nods, understanding.
"Well, you need to come with me," he says.
"Why?" I ask.
"I have something to show you."
"I'm watching the kids."
"It's ok," Daphne says. "I can watch them."
"I couldn't ask you to do that," I reply.
"No please. It's fine. Go have your time together."
She smiles and nods towards the door. I hesitate then nod.
"Alright," I give in.

"It's beautiful out here. Thank you for showing me," I say.
"Gladly darling," Maxon replies.
We're walking near the fields behind their castle. It's amazing. They have laborers work there. Once they're done working they all eat together and enjoy each other's company.
The fields are empty now since its getting later, and we're alone. Well, as alone as we'll be for awhile. There's a few guards closer to the castle, keeping everyone safe.
My arms entwined with his. We're walking by the fields and trees.
"Thank you for everything Maxon."
"No need to thank me for anything. This is our life. And our life couldn't be happy or complete without the other half holding it together."
"You're my glue Maxon."
"And you're my glue."
I smile at him. We stop. I kiss him. He kisses me back hard. He bends me over. After, we hug.
"Ready to head home?" Maxon asks.
"Sure. I'm gonna miss this place though."
"Me too."
I smile at him. We walk back to the castle together.
