I finish putting on my light pink, sleeveless day dress and leave the bathroom. I'm wearing black flats and the heart necklace Maxon got me.
Maxon looks at me and smiles from his desk in the prince's suite.
"You look amazing darling," Maxon tells me.
"Thanks," I reply with a smile.
I go over to him. He stands up and gives me a quick kiss.
"How long do you think you'll be?" he asks.
"Probably until dinner. As long as that's ok."
"Of choose it is. I'll just miss you."
"I'll miss you too. You should come."
"No no no. It's a girls day. You girls have fun together."
I pout.
"You'll still have fun darling," he assures.
"I know. I'm gonna miss you though."
"I'll miss you too."
I kiss him then go to Eadlyn's room.
I knock.
"Come in!" she yells.
I go in and see her in her favorite purple dress. She has her hair in a braid and a purple backpack with her stuff in it.
"Ready for our tea party?" I ask.
"Yeah!"
I smile and pick her up. I carry her to the women's room. We go in and sit on the cushions by Marlee. Eadlyn moves off of my lap and sits on her own cushion. There's only three set up.
"Where's Lucy?" I ask Marlee.
"She didn't feel well," she explains.
"Oh, that sucks."
"I know."
The maids put the tea and cookies on the mini table.
Eadlyn pulls out plastic tiaras and hands us each one.
"Thank you Eadlyn," Marlee says to her with a smile.
"You're welcome miss Marlee."
I put Eadlyn's on her head. She smiles big.
I poor the tea and put two cookies on each of our plates.
"So how are you feeling?" Marlee asks.
"Fine. I've felt a little nauseous at times and I'm already getting hungrier," I tell her.
"I'm excited to see the baby."
"Me too. You guys should have another one."
Eadlyn pulls her kiddy makeup bag from her backpack she holds out the purple nail polish.
I take it and start doing her nails.
"Carter doesn't want another kid. I think two is enough anyway."
I look at her then continue to do Eadlyn's nails. She's watching the TV.
"Do you think we're having to many?" I ask Marlee.
"No, that's not what I meant at all. I meant for Carter and I that's enough. Every family's different."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course."
"Alright."
"Royal falls often have lots of kids anyway."
"Maxon was an only child."
"That's for a reason that I wish didn't happen."
"Let's talk about something else."
"Ok. Anything specific you want to talk about?"
"Not really."
I shove one of my cookies in my mouth.
"Oh, I have an idea," Marlee says.
"What?"
"We should go on a double date with."
"Double date?"
"Yeah. You and Maxon, Carter and I. We can have a romantic dinner together or something."
"Sure. We should do that soon."
"It'll be really fun."
"For sure. I'll talk to Maxon about it later today."
"I'll talk to Carter too. I think it'll be a nice break from everything we have to deal with every day. Not that we have it as hard as you guys or anything."
"Every family has big struggles to get through every day."
I finish doing Eadlyn's nails.
"Let them dry sweetie," I tell her.
She nods.
"Carter told me they put more guards on duty thought the local towns," Marlee mentions.
"Yeah. Aspen said he was concerned about rebels moving towards the castle so it's easier to attack."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I don't know why he thinks that. We haven't had an attack in awhile."
"A lot of the threes and twos are mad about the castes being removed."
"That's true."
"At least they're making sure to protect you guys."
"Yeah. I'm very grateful."
"Oh, Carter and I are thinking about getting our own home," Marlee says.
"Really?" I ask.
"Yeah. If we do he'd still keep his job but he might work in the town's instead."
"Would you still be my maid?" I ask
"For sure."
"Well, if you decide to move then I'm happy for you. But you're always welcome here."
"Thank you America."
"There's no need to thank me."
"Mommy?" Eadlyn says while standing up.
"Yes sweetie?" I ask.
"Can I have more cookies?"
"Sure."
I hand her two more cookies.
"I wish Josie could've come," Eadlyn says.
"Me too," I reply.
"You two can hang out tomorrow if you want," Marlee says.
"Yeah!"
"Don't yell," I tell her.
She plops down on her cushion and eats her cookies.
I smile and grab a cookie for myself.

I get out of the bath and put my bed clothes on.
Once I'm dressed I leave the bathroom.
Maxon's laying in bed reading. I go over and lay next to him. He puts his book down.
"Took you long enough," he jokes.
"If you're that impatient you could've joined me," I reply.
"Eh, I was letting you relax."
"Yeah sure."
He grins.
"Do you have a free day anytime soon?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Marlee wants us to have a double date with her and Carter."
"Oh. I should be free on Saturday for a few hours. I was going to use it for a meeting but that's alright."
"I'll ask them if that works for them."
"If not I'll clear up another day."
"Alright. We should all have a dinner on the balcony."
"Good idea. Are the kids coming too?"
"No. It should be an adult night."
"Technically a baby will be there," Maxon says while putting his hand on my stomach.
"Technically. But we won't hear it crying."
"That's the important part?"
"The most important part."
"Makes sense."
I smile and kisses him. He kisses me back then moves away and turns off the light.
I turn around, facing away from him, and he wraps his arms around me.
I yawn.
"Good night my dear," he says softly.
"Good night Maxon."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
