Everyone cheers as I pull out the pink slice of cake.
I squeal and hug Maxon. He has the biggest smile on his face as he hugs me back.
"It's a girl!" I exclaim.
"A little girl," he says shocked.
I start crying while hugging him.
Everyone "awww"s around us.
"I'm so happy," I half laugh, half cry.
The kids come over and hug both of our legs.
I pick up Osten and hug him.
"You're going to have a baby sister," I tell the kids.
"Finally," Eadlyn says relieved.
We all laugh.
I look at Ahren and Kaden. "What do you think? A baby sister is pretty exciting right?"
"Yeah!" Ahren yells.
Kaden pouts. "I want a brother."
"You can't choose, Kaden. We don't get to decide that."
"But I want a brother."
"I'm sorry honey. But you'll still love your baby sister."
"Maybe you can get a baby brother in the future," Maxon adds.
I give him a look. "Don't start getting ideas mister."
"What? You don't want another baby after this one?"
"How about you give birth to five babies and then answer your own question."
"Oh come on."
"We'll see."
"Right. We'll see."
I hand Osten to May and help Maxon cut up the rest of the cake.
After we give everyone a piece I go to grab my own and get a surprise kiss from Maxon. I sigh happily and kiss him back.
He moves back and smiles before he grabs his own piece.
Oh do I love him so.
We all sit and eat our cake, talking excitedly about the news of a baby girl.
Maxon never lets go of my hand as we chat.
Kaden comes over and climbs next to Maxon. "Daddy can we play outside?"
"What are we playing if we go outside?" Maxon asks.
"Can we play with the sprinklers?"
Maxon smiles, thinking back to when the sprinklers in the garden went off by accident, soaking all of us and our guests. "You have to ask your mom."
"Mommy please," Kaden begs while pouting.
I smile at him. "Sure buddy. But you have to get changed first."
"Ok!"
He starts to run out so I yell, "No no! You wait for me."
"But mommy-"
"No buts mister."
He pouts and starts whining.
May gets up. "I'll get him changed."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure. I'll get the twins changed too."
"Thank you May," I appreciate.
"Anything for my big sister."
She winks and goes with the kids.
I sigh, happy to have a break, and lean on Maxon.
"They're so wild," he laughs.
"Just like their daddy."
"Hey."
I smirk.
He suddenly smirks and whispers in my ear, "Daddy can get wild."
I blush. "Maxon!"
He yells "ow" after getting a smack in the chest.
"Don't abuse me," he tells me.
"Don't be gross," I say back.
"I'm just being flirty."
"You've gone too far."
He laughs and I roll my eyes playfully.
Once the kids come back we all make our way outside. It's a perfect day for playing in the sprinklers. It's pretty warm and sunny.
Maxon rubs my shoulder. "I'll go have someone turn them on."
"Thanks honey."
He goes inside.
A maid brings our towels and sunscreen.
Once the kids spot the sunscreen they start to run.
"No ones getting in the sprinklers until they have sunscreen on so you all better get your butts over here," I announce.
"You said don't say buts," Kaden complains.
"This is a different kind of butt."
"I don't like that butt."
"Well I don't care. Come here."
He pouts and comes over. I make sure they all get enough sunscreen before letting them go.
Maxon comes back right as the sprinklers come back on.
The kids yell excited and run into them.
I smile and hug Maxon from the side. He puts his arm around me.
"We sure are lucky," he says.
"We sure are," I agree.
He kisses me gently.
This has been a good day.
