More Than Friends

"Almost ready?" Maxon asks.
"Almost," I reply.
Maxon and I are going in to town today.
We're meeting with some mayors from a few different towns. Maxon will be talking to the men about any issues going on while I talk with their wives.
A close friend I've made and haven't been able to talk to in awhile will be there. She's the wife of the mayor of Dominica. It's been over a year since I saw her since she's living so far away.
I finish my makeup and look at Maxon who's sitting on the bed.
"Alright. I'm ready," I tell him.
"Lets go say bye to the kids," he says while getting up.
I nod.
He holds my hand as we head to their rooms.
"Do you think the kids will be able to come with us soon out of the castle?" I ask.
"I don't think so," he replies.
"Oh."
"It's just to risky America."
"I know it is. I just wish they could see the town."
"I wish that to."
It doesn't make me happy, but he's right. Bringing them is to risky. Especially to this meeting. Lots of important people in one place at a time isn't the best idea we've had, but we felt it would be better if we did it outside the castle so it wouldn't worry the people to much. And this meeting has to happen.
Once we're at the boy's door we hear Ahren shouting something. The guard at the door seemed unfazed, so we figured everything was fine.
We go in to see Ahren sitting on Eadlyn who's laying on the floor and trying to get him off. He has a huge grin plastered on his face.
Kaden is pouting on his bed.
"Ahren, get off of your sister," I order.
"Why?" he asks.
"Because I said so."
He rolls his eyes and gets off.
"Hey. No attitude," Maxon demands.
"I'm not," he whines.
"We're leaving," I break in.
"Where are you going?" Eadlyn asks while getting up.
"We have to go to a meeting in town," I explain.
"Can we come?"
"I wish sweetie. Not today."
"Why not?"
"It's to dangerous hon. We don't want you guys to get hurt."
"We won't."
"I'm sorry Eadlyn. But you can't come."
"Aww ok."
"We'll hang out once we get back ok?"
"Ok."
I hug her and she kisses my cheek.
We give the boy's a hug then go.

We walk into the vintage cafe arm in arm.
The mayor's are all here already. The men are all sitting around one big table while the women are spilt up at different booths.
Everyone stops talking when they notice us. They get up and bow then sit back down.
Maxon kisses my cheek and goes to his seat.
I spot my friend and go over to her. She's sitting by another girl I don't recognize. When I go over I see she's heavily pregnant.
She looks at me and smiles, making me smile back.
"Hey Heidi," I say excitedly.
I sit by her and hug her. She hugs me back.
I notice the few reporters allowed in taking pictures but ignore them.
Heidi is five years younger than me and got married at a very young age, so this is her first child.
"It's so great to see you America," Heidi says.
"It is. Look at you. You look great," I tell her.
"Thank you."
"I didn't know you were pregnant."
"I decided to wait to tell you."
"Why?"
"I'm 8 months and since the meeting was planned three months ahead of time I just decided to wait."
"Makes sense."
She smiles then looks at the girl with bright blonde hair next to her.
"Oh, this is Kate. Kate, this is queen America as you know."
"Hello your majesty," Kate shyly greets.
She's young so this must be her first time in royal presence.
"Hello Kate," I reply.
She smiles a bit and avoids eye contact. I'm tempted to try to talk to her but decide to leave her be.
"How are you feeling?" I question Heidi.
"Good. I'm a bit tired but not bad."
"How was the plane ride?"
"Honestly, I was asleep most of the time."
"At least you got some rest."
"Yeah. I didn't feel great when we first got on."
"Then it's definitely good you got some rest."
"I was fine. It's just the baby."
"I understand."
I look over at Kate.
"Do you have any children?" I ask.
She looks at me.
"Oh, no ma'am," she answers.
"You can call me America," I assure.
She nods.
"Do you plan on having any?"
"I want to but not anytime soon."
"Who's your husband?"
"Mayor Charles Henry."
I remember that name well. Maxon doesn't like him much. He likes to bend the rules Maxon sets, but they agree in a lot of things politically. I remember Maxon telling me they got married, just not when.
"You two just got married recently right?"
She nods.
"How nice. I get waiting for kids, just don't wait to long," I warn.
"We won't."
"Are you and Maxon planning on having anymore kids?" Heidi asks.
"Yes we are."
"Soon?"
"In a few months."
"You're pregnant?"
I smile and nod.
"Aww that's awesome America," she tells me.
"Thanks. I'm glad you're having a baby too. You'll have to start coming over more often so they can be friends."
"I'd love to."
"I wish we saw each other more often."
"Me too. We just live so far away."
"I get it. It's not like you can leave either."
"Exactly. Oh, here, this is for you."
She holds out an envelope.
I open it and look at the baby shower invitation.
"I'll definitely come, even if somethings already planned for that day," I promise.
"I'm so glad you're going to come," she smiles.
I chat with Kate and Heidi for awhile.
Once the boy's are done with their talk everyone eats.
Some of the best chefs were brought into the cafe to say to cook for us. The food was great.
After eating Maxon and I walk around talking to as many people as we can.
At five people start to leave.
I say bye to Heidi who's one of the first to leave. They have a long flight and have to go a bit early.
Once everyone's gone we head home.

"What an eventful day," Maxon comments as we get to our room.
I go over to the bed and lay down on it.
Not until now did I realize how exhausted I am.
He looks at me.
"You look tired," he says.
"I am," I promise.
"Did you at least have fun?"
"A lot of fun."
"Good."
"Did you have fun?"
"Not exactly."
I sit up and look at him.
He's hanging up his suit and tie.
"What happened?" I ask.
"Nothing really. Just a very serious meeting. Not so fun," he explains.
"Anything important I need to know?"
"Uh, yeah. A few things."
"Do tell."
He comes over and lays next to me.
We only have about half an hour until dinner.
"Well, there was a huge riot in St. George," he informs me.
"There was?"
"Yeah. They weren't happy about a new rule that a store made about the castes. The site made it so that no matter the caste they can buy whatever they want. The threes weren't so happy about that."
"What did they do?"
"A group of about twenty people broke the buildings windows and broke a few other things inside. They're all being fined."
"That's awful."
"I know. There's a few other things but I'll go over them with you later."
"Alright."
"I'm glad you got to hang out with Heidi."
"Me too."
"Who was that other girl?"
"Her name is Kate. She's Mayor Charles' wife."
"Oh."
"She's very nice."
"Well I'm glad you found a new friend."
"I'm glad Heidi introduced us. I don't have to many real friends, so hopefully she'll be a new one."
"Am I your friend?"
"Of course. What about me? Am I your friend?"
"You're more than my friend darling."
"Then what am I?"
"Mine. My love. My princess and queen. My happiness and hope. My sexy lady."
He says the last one with a grin.
I giggle.
"My everything," he tells me more serious.
He puts his hand on my cheek.
I smile and kiss him.
He kisses me back.
We keep kissing until he moves back a bit.
"I love you," he whispers.
"I love you too."
"I'm so grateful you gave me a chance."
"How could I not?"
He smirks and kisses me again.
We enjoy our passionate kissing until we have to go to dinner.
After dinner we watch a movie with the kids. Maxon works on a report while we watch it.
I have Kaden napping on my lap. And the other two on both sides of me.
Everything was peaceful...
Except for what happened next.
