The starters of Gen 1 and Gen 2 have identical numbers for their base stats. The two fire type starters, Charmander and Cyndaquil, take this a step further by also having identical distributions, and therefore identical base stats.

• Old Fact:
There is said to be a rare prototype Pocket Monsters game for the NES that was made in the late 1994/early 1994. This game reportedly had terrible music, had only 50 Pokémon and a completely different Trainer. This game was only in Japanese and was meant to be a skeleton for the Game Boy predecessors.
