Sidharth's POV :
"Layla, my coffee." I instruct through the intercom. Authority and responsibility snapped me straight as I study today's schedule.
Caffeine was one thing I really needed if I wanted to get through the day.
Hey, I love my work. Its just that a cup of coffee gives me energy and helps me tolerate a lot of shit.
I was going through the files that were kept on my table when my secretary Layla came with the morning coffee. She placed it on the table and took the files that I had finished.
Just as I finished the 4th file, my phone rang. One glance at the caller ID and I roll my eyes; one of the only people who will not think twice before disturbing me.
Kabir Khanna, one of my best friends. He is a journalist at 829 news channel. Stuck with me from my junior college, on football ground as well as commerce lecture rooms.
Having no choice, I picked up receiving the expected answer.
He taunted, "Sidharth Khurana, how long does it take you to pick up a call?"
"Good morning to you too. Its a working day, FYI, get up your lazy ass and go to your office. Otherwise, your boss will kick you out..."
He interrupts me by saying "What crawled up your ass and died? Everyday is working day for you, Sid, take a break, take a kitkat. Come on, its Saturday! So we want you to come with us and cheer up your workaholic ass!"
"Fine. I guess I need a break too. These reports need observations though, I'll finish them and join you guys." I roll my eyes as he groaned at the other side "Where do you want me to meet you?"
"In half an hour to E-square, we have booked tickets for a movie. Hurry up!" He rushed immediately.
"I'll be there." I noted and hung up.
I dig back into the file, satisfied at last, kept it aside and stretched before calling for Layla. She came in shortly and stood by the visitor's chairs, ready to take orders.
"Any meetings today?" I interrogated in usual business-is-business tone without looking up from my laptop which was currently getting loaded with emails yet to reply.
She was about to answer when I continued "Cancel them all for today and reschedule next week. I'll be busy, so don't disturb me unless its urgent. Got it?" I ordered and raised my eyes at her challengingly.
With a "Yes sir" she was gone.

I parked my car in the basement and waited for an elevator. Reaching the floor, I stroll around searching for my friends and find all three of them near the 4th ticket booth which was closed.
Other than Kabir, I had another 2 that tagged along since then. My football mates, Karthik Verma and Abhishek Mehra. Both were from science, while Karthik went for Medical, Abhi chose Engineering. Only they know what pleasure they get from blood and computers respectively.
Kabir and Abhi were busy joking among themselves, latter leaned against the counter as he laughed along with former who stood beside him. Karthik though was busy on his phone, probably texting or... sexting his girlfriend.
Who knows how far have they gone? He was with her for what? 2 yrs?
