Kaira's POV:
Birds chirping, sunlight peeking in through the thick curtains, the slow rhythmic beating of heart ringing in my ears, a heavy arm around my stomach keeping me against a hard chest— wakes me up.
I smiled lazily rubbing my eyes. Turning around in the arms of my husband I face his peacefully sleeping figure.
My Sidharth. My husband.
Today was the first day, of a new year, of our new life. Together.
The messy locks fall on his forehead making him stir in sleep and I quickly brush them away. My touch lingering, I trace his peaceful facial features. I couldn't help myself as I leaned forward to peck his forehead lovingly.
He stirred and I felt his hold on my waist tightening as he tugged me closer "Good morning, wifey."
"Good morning." I whispered smiling as his dark eyes open. Before I could stop, he rolls me on top of him, caressing my cheek he pulls me in a kiss.
Um— he still tastes so good.
Killing the thought I pushed up, breaking the kiss I say "Its unhygienic."
He snorted a chuckle not loosening his grip on me "As if I care."
I smacked his shoulder "Shut up, let me go."
"Why? I like you here."
"I have to get ready and go down, a few rituals are to be done today." I tell him softly.
He groaned "Why are there so many rituals?"
I shrugged wiggling to get out, in vain. He just looks at me intently, a small smile on his lips as he whispered "Let me just hold you for sometime."
Finally after 5 mins of just admiring the comfort, he loosens his hold and I quickly get off before he changes his mind.
When I came out after a refreshing hot shower, the bedroom was empty. Shrugging I decide to keep his clothes out for him.
Wifely duties.
Or I would like to start doing them nonetheless.
Downstairs at the dining table, all aunties were sitting around chatting while mom was coming out of kitchen with a tray of cups when I entered "Good morning mom, aunties."
"Good morning, dear." Mom smiles at me sweetly as she sits down at her place "Did you sleep well?"
I nod remembering the comfort of Sidharth's arms.
"Why don't you join us, dear?" One aunt said as she dipped a biscuit in her tea.
I smiled "I'll be right back with a coffee."
They were going on about some gossip from last night as I slide in beside mom with my coffee.
"Bhabhi, its Kaira's first Rasoyi what should she make?" One aunt asked mom and I sat up straight getting interested.
"Of course there should be something sweet." commented another.
Geez, I really need to remember their names.
"What can you make dear?" The third one asked me.
"Whatever you want aunty." I smiled.
"Go for parathas, all the children were looking forward for it from days." Mom suggested "Don't forget the sweet, it's considered auspicious."
"Okay mom. I'll get to work—" Just as I tried to get up mom's hand was on mine and her worried eyes met mine.
"Are you okay, Kaira? I'm sorry about Adi—"
