"Kaira! Where are you!? Breakfast is ready. Hurry up or you will be late!" Rachel calls out for her new daughter as she sets up the dinning table.
"What happened, Mom? She is not here yet?" Sidharth asked as he descends the stairs carrying a few files.
"Sid! There you are, look where did she go. Weren't you in your room?"
"No, I was in study. I'll go look for her— shit its 9 already." Sidharth exclaims running up the stairs to their bedroom calling out for his wife.
Today was Kaira's interview with her Lawrence Sir and she was extremely excited and happy all week until now. Just as she woke up this morning, she realised the criticality of her situation fuelling nervousness and panic.
She wanted to look her best, feel the best, give the best but with the constant nervousness she was all panicky with 'what if's.
What if he doesn't like me?
What if I stutter and loose this chance?
What if I forget some important documents today?
What if he thinks I'm taking advantage of Sidharth to meet him?
What if I can't answer his questions and disappoint him?
What Sidharth and everyone will think if anything went wrong today?
All the questions were messing up her mind as she held her head in her hands, leaning against the wall in their closet.
Her husband's voice brought her out of the thoughts as he knocked on the closet door "Kaira? Are you in there? It's getting late, you should be there in an hour. Kaira?"
Gathering energy she stood up, dusting off her pants she opened the door. She was ready in a formal outfit, sap green shirt with black pants.
Her tired eyes met his and immediately he was in front of her cupping her face in his palms, concern dripping off his voice he asked "What happened, wifey? Why do you look so dull? Are you feeling alright?"
Slowly she shook her head, voicing out her questions in low voice. He almost didn't catch all of it, his heart melted at her nervousness and pulled her in a hug.
"You are so silly!" He exclaimed softly "Being nervous is fine but don't doubt yourself, Kaira. You have all your documents safe and your Sir is already impressed with you. You just have to finally meet him and answer a few simple questions. You'll do great!"
Repeating his words in her mind like every time, she unconsciously calms down, her confidence increasing at his trust.
"Now, brush up your confidence and put on a smile. Everyone is waiting for you for breakfast." He said kissing her crown lovingly before pulling back.
