Chapter 34
A few days later, things went normal lately. It was the usual hot, dry day and I would kill for a cool conditioned lift rather than a stuffed-atmosphere bus that I took every morning. I wiped the sweat on the sleeve of my uniform and quickly ran inside the library, where club activities are held inside plus the cool room. Flo and I usually hung out in front of the senior cooking class, but honestly I couldn't be bothered swimming around in this humid weather.
I quickly texted Flo and Ace my whereabouts and occupied myself in a vacant couch, sighing in relief. If only I could stay here until the school ends.
"Hello."
I looked up from my phone and instantly smiled. The first thing I noticed was his green eyes, and then the rimmed glasses that hid them. His mopped, dark drown hair slightly washed the top bit of the frame, an indication that his hair grew a bit during his stay in Perth.
"Come sit down," I pat on the spot next to mine, "Do you know where Flo is?"
He landed butt first, "I think I saw her with Darl. Should you be worried?"
"Nah probably not."
"Can I ask you something Ivy?" Ace said.
Normally we'd talk as usual, and I'm the one doing the questions (in techno class), so this is uncommon for me, "Sure, fifty cents a minute."
"Fifty? Are you sure you can handle that?" He joked.
I raised the stake, "Fine, two dollars? Or are your pockets still filled?"
"Sounds better at least." He agreed, "How serious is Flo with Darl?"
Okay, he was definitely off, "You can consider her feelings as half-crushed-half-considering, although I do encourage her to keep her eyes peeled."
"Why is that?"
"First, he's hot." I said adamantly, "Two, he's no harm to crush on, and three, well it keeps her heart going. If you're confused by what I mean, scientifically speaking her heart goes for 24/7 until she dies obviously, but..." I blushed. Why am I talking about feelings? "...you know, other stuff."
"Right. May I guess what this "other stuff" is?" Ace asked.
"You can. In your head."
He must've sensed it quickly because he caught up with me, "Ivy, if you can't talk about this, then how can you cope with Flo's continuous fandom? Just curious." He finished quickly.
"I... well uh you see," I replied, laughing hesitantly, "I have a case dilemma where the word 'feelings' ought to trigger my very wellbeing and self-confidence."
"Okay."
"Just by speaking the word alone allows me to deconstruct the meaning of her "continuous fangasm" and deformula that into a more suitable coordination."
"Okay?"
"Like Yasuo from League of Legends, for example. You play League right?" I asked, cocking my head in to see if he's following along, "With two enemies attached to him towards his turret, he can kill two birds with one stone – or his long sword – without any backups."
"Woah slow down Ivy, I didn't get any of what you just said." Ace interrupted, "Until the League reference, and yah I do play."
"You don't get my explanation but understand the whole load of formula the teacher gave you at Information Technology? You're quite something." I joked. Whew I didn't even stop there! A comma for a sentence? Pshh.
