Chapter 19

I fixed the shoulder strap of my backpack and looked around. Ace told me to come by his house after school, since he left early today. Luckily his house wasn't too far away from school, so it took me a good ten minutes of walk with a couple of friends who went the same street.

It felt like a routine to come by his house. Every Tuesday and Thursday, Seth would drop us off and we would continue with our project. Alongside in our break time, I would pop the kettle and he grab the cookies container and we get to know each other a bit more.

I knocked thrice on the door and waited. A few seconds later, the door swung open and revealed Ace behind it. He had a rolled up tissue stuck up on one of his nose's hole and I could see a hint of blood seeping out of the hole. He smiled at me sheepishly as I entered the house.

"Well someone's nose got the time of the month." I joked.

"Your Australian weather is terrible. It never reached this high before in my life." Ace scowled. It was indeed a temperature of forty degrees Celcius in the afternoon.

"Summer's on the Barbie!" I laughed. I removed the bag straps off my shoulder and placed it nearby the coffee table, "You okay though?"

"Yeah fine, I thought there was actually a midlife crisis breaking through. I demanded the teacher to seek the hospital but he was just laughing at me. Laughing! Imagine how angry I was." He said irritably. I continued laughing and punched him on the shoulder.

"Man up bro, that's called a nose period. Hey, have you watched She's The Man?" I asked.

"Yeah, wait don't tell me..." He said slowly.

"I'm pretty sure I have a tampon somewhere..." I secretly giggled as I went through my bag. A hand grabbed my elbow, which stopped me from rummaging.

"No, I'm fine with this tissue thanks." He shuddered.

"Are you sure? I have the Spongebob brand. Sponge works best." I winked.

"Stop with this...talk, okay? It's creeping me out. Not everyday I talk to people about girls activities." Ace huffed, "I'll grab the cookies."

He sprint his way to the kitchen and I laughed silently. He was adorably cute at times.

I followed him to the kitchen and filled the kettle with tap water. I placed it on the stander and turned it on, "Is Alex on his routine baking session again?" I asked as I eyed on the batch of cookies.

"Yeah, he baked it last night. Some of them smelled funny, so watch out for it." Ace warned. I turned around and raised a brow.

"What do you mean?"

He looked like he wanted to tell me, but decided not to, "No, nothing. Forget I said anything at all."
