Chapter 36

A mate? Are you naive or do you truly have no clue? Why would he befriend with such a low economic person--

I turned my head to the other side of the pillow and sighed heavily. Her words repetitively went on inside my mind, and I couldn't help but stare at the photo of Ace, Flo, Alex and I taped on the study table under the shining moonlight.

It hurt. I knew that my school wasn't anything special, nor an equivalent to a privvy school with fancy blazers and all, but that didn't mean anyone could insult my education.

I laid my eyes on the grinning clover-eyed boy and my heart pounded once more. My adoration for him wouldn't do anything at all because we were just good ol' friends who play Dota and maths classmates, and in all honestly, I've never seen people who confess their feelings earnestly without the shits and giggles in the later outcomes. It's terrifying to even think of confessing. It's way out of my area of knowledge.

Today's event was weird too. All those strange questions, mentioning of Ace's presence as if he was a person I could not associated with, Eleanor gazing longingly at him the other day...

This is hurting my train of thoughts. I dozed off.

"Ivy! Guess what?"

"Hmm?"

"Darl... he bought a cupcake for me!" Flo cheered, prancing round and about in an ecstatic manner.

I scoffed jokingly, "He bought you a hot chocolate before...what's next? He'll give you a kiss?"

She blushed, "Don't throw me off with words! Fuck, now I'm having weird thoughts. Thanks for that."

"No worries." I laughed, "No seriously, at the pace you guys are heading, it won't be long until you guys become a thing aye?"

"I guess so, but I'm having second thoughts..."

"What do you mean?"

Flo stopped her interpretive dance and plopped herself down, "I'm happy and everything, but having a person you admire for so long, finally looking at you? That's not how crushes work!"

"So you're saying you want him to break your heart?" I questioned.

"No not really -- ugh I mean yes I guess so -- " She sighed deeply, "I'm complicated, aren't I?"

I pat her back, "There there, you're just confused on what to do next."

"True that, it's been so long since someone noticed me," Flo looked at me, "How about you? It's all about me lately. How's your love life going? I'm such a terrible friend for not keeping up to date."

I laughed, "My life is not as interesting as yours girl, not a lot of drama." lies "You know about my crush right? Yeah that's it." lies, there's so much more.

"I ship you guys so hard from the moment he entered this school. Did I make a ship name yet? Ivorace? Aceory? They both sound smart, like you two."

"It won't happen, honestly." One truth at least, "Not now, not ever, and anyway, I think some girls in my maths class likes him too."

"So? Does that make them more advantageous than you are? You're his best mate Ive! Pounce him! Jump!"

It's hopeless, "Nah I'm good."

"I'm going to up your confidence game one day, seriously." She huffed, "Whatever, I won't let this off the hook just yet."
