Unedited Chapter
"Lucky McGowan!" My head shot up as I heard my name been called out. My eyes instantly look at my Maths teacher. "I'm sorry. Did I wake you up?" Sarcasm filled his tone of voice. I blushed deeply and look down, letting my hair covered my embarassed face. Sniggers could be heard around me. "Pay attention unless you want to fail." He turn back to the whiteboard and continued his teaching. I let out a sigh and rested my heavy head on my hand. Sleep is still in my system as I let out a yawn. I look down at my notebook. Doodles covered half of the paper, followed by maths equations. I glanced at the wall clock and almost teared up, knowing I still have another 30 more minutes to go. I let my gaze out of the window and let my thoughts clouded in my mind.
It's been a week since the kiss incident. My lips still tingled as I remember Zayn's lips on mine. Unknowingly, I felt my fingers tracing the bottom of my lip. He didn't come to me after that. We didn't talk for a week and I haven't even seen him. He's been avoiding me. I know. I miss him so much. I felt a kick at the back of my seat and shot a glare at the guy who did it. He look past my shoulders and I follow his direction. My teacher stood in front of my table, a scowl on his face and his arms were crossed together, showing his displeased. He hand me a pink slip and I let out a heavy sigh, knowing that pink slip is my entry to meet the principal. I took it and gather my things before exiting the class.
I took my time in walking to the principal's office. I even went to my locker to put in my books since maths is my last lesson of the day. I arrived the office and hand in the slip to the receptionist. She just pointed to me to the chairs near the office and I plopped myself on it. After five minutes, the door to the office opened up and my eyebrows shot upwards as I saw the person coming out of the office. Zayn stared at me for a few seconds in shock before looking down. My eyes widened as I saw a glimpse of a bruise formed at his right cheekbone and a bruised lip. My eyebrows furrowed together as questions pop in my head. Who did this to him? What happended to him?
I didn't get a chance to open my eyes before the principal came out. "Lucky? What are you doing here?" His deep voice asked. I showed him the pink slip with a sheepish grin. He nodded and turn to Zayn. "Remember what I said so I don't want this to happen ever again, do you hear me?" Zayn nodded and quickly exited the room. My eyes followed him. "Lucky, come inside." He ushered me into his office and I made my way inside.
After a boring lecture from the principal, I finally able to escape from the office with a headache. Sheesh, I didn't know our principal talks a lot! I still have like ten more minutes before school ended but I wasn't in any mood to go back to class, so I just get out of the school. A slight breeze hit my face, a smile form on my face as I breathe in the fresh air. I walked out of the school zone and headed to a nearby bookstore called 'Borders'. I like to spend my freetime there and surrounded myself with books. I entered the place and was greeted by the smell of papers.
"Hey Lucky!" I turn towards the cashier. A twenty-five year old man stood behind it with a stubble on his face and a messy hair on his head.
"Hey Andy!" I greeted him and gave him a hug after he walk towards me. Andy owns the shop after his grandfather gave him the store when he was nineteen. He doesn't go to university so this bookstore is his life but he doesn't ask for anything else because he loves what's doing. I known him for two years when he noticed that I spend my time in his store. He's like a big brother to me. He stood 6'5 feet tall and is skinny for a guy. With electric blue eyes and a lip ring attached to his bottom lip, he doesn't have the image of someone who is a bookworm. But you know what they always say, don't judge it's book by it's cover.
"It's been so long I haven't see you." Andy has a very deep voice for a twenty-five year old guy. "I missed you. What have you been up to?"
"Not much. It's only school, Andy." He chuckled at my response.
