"Don't you even say those strong words! Kung alam mo sarili mo na nagawa mo na lahat, leave this room!" biglang sabat ni Eljon.
Napakagat ako sa labi ko at saka ako naglakad papalapit sa higaan ni Lez. I knelt down at saka ko hinawakan ang kamay niya. "I-I'm sorry. Tell me that you're not-" I cut off my words at saka ako napayuko. Tell me that you're not giving up.
"Huwag kang sumunod sa anak natin." I break out into tears as I said those words. Hindi ko mapigilan ang umiyak kasi ang sakit eh. Discovering her tragic accident is enough but witnessing her death is the worst.
Ang gago ko kasi. Everything is my fault. Everything is fucking my fault.
"Is it--really over?" I heard Avery said pero hindi ko na yun pinansin. I'm just seizing this moment as my farewell.
I fucking can't believe this. I wasn't able to let the child grow up inside Lez tapos I wasn't able to protect her for her to have a second chance to live again. I'm the worst man ever.
In the middle of my crying, bigla akong nakarinig na ikinaangat talaga ng ulo ko.
"Toot---Toot---Toot."
Nanlaki ang mata ko at kinamot kamot ko pa talaga ito. Is this true? I can see Lez's heartbeat back to normal. Napahigpit ang hawak ko sa kamay ni Lez.
"Lez, do you hear me?" I whispered to her. "Lez?"
"Toot--Toot--Toot--Toot--Toot!"
"Call the doctor!" Ray ordered na ikinasunod agad nila.
"Anong nangyayari? I thought he said that she's dead because there was no hope." Avery panicked.
"Hindi ko alam. Bigla nalang siya nagreact." I responded.
Biglang nagpasukan ang mga nurse at yung doctor ulit na kanina.
"Doc, what's happening to her?" Eljon immediately asked.
"I don't know. This is the first time I've experience na may second physical reaction ang isang coma patient." He explained at saka niya tinuloy ang ginagawa niya. He did what he should do hanggang sa nagpakuha nanaman siya ng defibrillator.
"80!"
"Shock!"
No reaction.
"100! Shock!"
"200! Shock!"
"I'll do the chest compression again." He said at ginawa nga niya.
He did it for 5 minutes hanggang sa nangyari nanaman ang kinatatakutan namin.
"Toot-Toot-Toot-Toot-Toot-Toot."
"Christian, what's happening?" Avery worriedly asked.
"Hindi ko pa alam. Let's just wat--"
"Toot-Toot-Toot-Toot-Toooooot."
Nakaagaw pansin ang ingay na yun at doon nalang namin napansin na tumigil ang doctor sa ginagawa niya. Nagkaroon ng katahimikan sa pagitan ng lahat at ang naririnig lang namin ay yung machine na ganun pa rin ang ingay hanggang sa tumigil siya. The silence lasted for 10 seconds.
I was about to realize na wala na talaga nang biglang bumalik sa normal yung machine.
"Toot----Toot----Toot----Toot."
A part of us were happy pero mas may inaantay pako. I approached Lez at pinanood ko lang siya until she surprisingly opened her eyes widely.
