Vince’s POV:

“Vince, ano ba? Ayusin mo naman yung trabaho mo. Ilang araw nalang before our deadline!!! We’re already cramming, in case you forgot!” Sigaw ni Jacko sakin.

Ilang araw na din kasi akong palpak sa trabaho ko. Hanggang ngayon apektado pa rin talaga ako e.

“Dude,” tumingin ako kay Jacko, “alam kong may pinagdadaanan ka ngayon, pero pwede? Isantabi mo muna yan. Nasa trabaho ka, at madaming madadamay pag ikaw ang pumalpak.”

“Sorry, sorry pare. Don’t worry, tatapusin ko lahat ‘to bago ang deadline. I promise I’ll meet my due date.”

“Tsk. And now your team will suffer. Hay, Vince.” And then he left my office.

Napatingin ako sa frame sa gilig ng desk ko. Picture ng kambal.

Hay. Sorry, Ven and Maze, nasaktan ko nanaman ang mommy nyo. And now you’re gonna celebrate your birthday soon. Hindi ko nanaman kayo makakasama.

*Kring! Kring!*

I answered my phone without looking at the caller.

“Hell—“

“Daddy!!!!!! It’s us, Ven and Maze!” Oh crap.

Hindi ko alam kung matutuwa ba ako dahil kausap ko sila o ibaba ko nalang ‘to sa hiya e.

“Dad, are you there?” Venice

“Dad!” Maze

“Uhh… Yes, I’m here.”

“Whew. I thought you hung up.” Maze

“No, I did not.”

“Dad, we’re celebrating our birthday next week! Are you coming?”

Anong sasabihin ko? Invited ba ako dun?

“Who are you talking with, babies?” I heard Maria’s voice.

“Uh.. nothing, mom. It’s just… it’s Tito Lan—“ Venice

“Od, kanina pa kita hinahanap e.” Lance

“Uh oh.” Maze & Venice

Looks like Maria doesn’t even know they’re talking to me.

“We’re sorry, mommy.” I heard Venice frowned.

“Can I have the phone?” Sabi ni Maria.

Nakarinig ako ng steps and something. At maya maya, may nagsalita na ulit mula sa kabilang linya.

“Hello.”

God! I missed her voice.

“The kids are inviting you?”

“Well, yes.”

“Are you coming?”

So I’m invited? “Are you inviting me?”

“This is OUR kids’ party. And they obviously want you there.”

“Am I welcome?”

“Vince,” She’s in the Philippines but, God! Why do I feel her coldness here in Spain?! “the kids are already aware of my relationship with Kevin. If you’re gonna come, I think it would be nice if you bring your fiancé with you, and introduce her to the kids. That would make us more civil, right?”
