Chapter 29: False hopes

Odette’s POV:

Three months have passed. Three months. And I know, madaming buwan at taon pa akong bibilangin. Mali, pero I know eventually magiging tama din ‘to.

But aside from fooling and hurting myself, madami ding tao ang naging apektado dahil sa desisyon namin ni Vince.

For the first time, naniwala si Lolo sa break up namin. And maybe he felt that this is for real, dahil hindi nya ipinilit ang gusto nya.

And you know what he did? Hindi nya tinanggap yung final issue. Na-disappoint sya sa kinalabasan. The photographs, the content, the feature topic – everything!

And now, Luminary Magazine is under probation. Three months na silang walang operation dahil lagi ‘tong nirereject ni lolo.

And speaking of lolo, eto ako, papasok sa office nya ngayon.

I was just about to knock on the door when I heard him shouting. Binuksan ko yung pinto and I saw him talking to someone on the phone.

He threw his phone on his table. At nakita na nya nga ako.

“You heard everything?” He asked.

“Yes, lolo.” I said, then I made my way to the couch. Umupo naman sya sa opposite side. “Si Jacko ba ang kausap nyo, lolo?”

Mukhang wala sa mood si lolo. Well, palagi naman syang ganun.

I asked.

“Oo, apo. And I’m doing this for you.”

I gulped.

Let’s get straight to the point. Kailangan ko nang magpahinga for my wedding tomorrow—“

Wow.

“Anyway, that’s not the main thing here.” May kinuha syang files sa table nya, then nilagay nya sa center table ulit yon. “Here’s the thing. One question. Do you have passion for fashion?”

“Well, of course. I was a model before, right?”

“Okay, well then.” He opened the folder in front of us.

“WHAT?!”

“I bought it from the Laurents. But don’t worry, half of it lang naman. The other half is still owned by Tiffanie Akimoto. And the other half, would be owned by you. Tiffanie’s Closet will now be named as Tiffanie & Odette. At hindi nalang sya sa Japan matatagpuan. Because right now, I’m buying locations all over the world to build up a branch. As of this moment, ang branch dito sa Pilipinas ay sinisimulan na.” OH MY GOD.
