Chapter 2: The girls’ past.

[ODETTE’S POV]

Hay! Finally nakarating din ng Holland Resort. Nakakairita lang maging driver ‘tong si Kevin. Super bagal at puro stop over pa. Lahat ata ng nadaanan naming stop over na may Starbucks hinintuan eh! I miss the whole barkada na kaya. Tapos kung san san pa nya ‘ko dinala.

Dumiretso na nga kami ng lobby. The staffs are so… annoying! Magha-hi/greet sila kay Kevin tapos pag nakita nila ‘ko, they’ll do it too pero hindi na happy. They’re like tensed.

Pero impressive ang resort. Lobby palang! This is so Greece-like. I like it! The staffs are impressive too dahil bright and sunny ang mood nila sa guests. Sakin lang sila weird. -_- Well, all thanks to Kevin who took care of this resort for me.

Lumapit na kami sa front desk. Standing there are two ladies in well-worn summer dresses.

“Good morning, sir Kevin.” naka-smile nilang bati pero nung nakita nila ako, their smiles backed off. Ugh!

“Good morning din, May and April. This is Odette, Odette Lopez. Yes, the owner of this resort.” pakilala sakin ni Kevin. I flashed them my ‘bitch’ smile.

“G-Good morning po, Ms Odette.” sabay nilang sabi.

Me? No answer. I just turned around to check out the whole place again.

“The place is so impressive, Kevin. I’m sure matutuwa si kuya Harvey pag nakita nya ‘to. Pero something’s missing. Di ba sabi ko dapat may portrait akong naka-display dito sa lobby?” Me

“Od, nakalimutan mo bang ni-reject mo yung unang painting na pinagawa ko? Pinabago ko pa yun and it’s coming from Italy. But don’t worry, ngayon dadating yung portrait.” Kevin

“Good.” Me

Umikot ako to look at the view of the beach on the other side. Grabe! Ang perfect talaga ng transformation ni Kevin dito sa resort. It’s been five years mula nung ipasa sakin ni kuya Harvey ‘to. Five years nung si Kevin muna ang nagpatakbo. And this is so perfect.

I smiled at the view. Ang ganda eh.

Then I felt someone near my ear.

“Od, will you be a bit nicer? Smile honestly to your staffs. Okay?” I heard Kevin whispered. Then lumayo sya sa tenga ko to stand beside me, then he held my hands. “D’you wanna take a rest first? O gusto mo nang makita ang barkada mo? Or d’you wanna have a tour around?”

“Can you please get your hands off of mine, first? Nagfi-feeling ka nanaman na boyfriend kita eh.” then I rolled my eyes to him.

“Hindi nga. Kasi susunod na tayo kela Alyssa. Tayo ang susunod na gagamit ng Holland Resort sa wedding natin.” Ugh?! Kapal! Napaharap ako sa kanya and he’s giving me his infamous killer smile.

“Asa ka pa!” I threw him my bags sabay walkout.

Hah. That wuss. That man… Hay… I really admire him for being so persistent. I admit it, I like Kevin, and I’m close to falling for him. But I’m still afraid to fall in love. Lalo na sa tulad nya. He’s like Jin, a playboy. Pero tulad din ni Jin, he fell in love with me.

HAY EWAN. BAKIT PA KASI AKO BUMALIK NG PILIPINAS EH. I miss Venice and Maze already. :(

So I took a walk on the beach first. Libot libot lang. Though the hotel looked different, ang beach ay ganun pa rin. Malamang! Pano mababago ang beach? Duh!
