Meeting my Husband
“Cassandra, can you pass me those brochures?” Martina asked me in her nasal
voice.
“Sure.” I passed her the wedding dress brochures.
“Oh, Marcie dear, this would look lovely on you!” she suddenly squealed, making
me jump in surprise. It has been one hour since I’ve been here and I already want to
get out. no, it’s not because of the whole ex – boyfriend marrying my step sister
fiasco but because I can’t stand Martina’s excessive flaunting anymore. Well, over –
excessive flaunting. I came in yesterday only to find my father worried about my
sudden disappearance for it was not like me to vanish without trace for days. Well,
few days. In Vegas I had been so stressed about my whole drunk marriage episode
that I had ignored all my calls. So well, anyway, I call my father only Martina picks up and starts giving me a lecture on how my father was worried about me and how I shouldn’t be so selfish and help my sister with her wedding. Somewhere in the beginning I had kept the receiver down and gone in the kitchen for some food hunting. Later I simply told her to tell my father to call me and hung up on her rants. My father called me almost an hour later, worried and all. I reassured him and was about to hang up when he asked me to come to the house the next day. Sighing, I agreed. And that’s how I’m here today, almost ready to murder someone.
“Martina, white is for ‘pure’ brides. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t think Marcie
is that pure.” I cut her. I knew it sounded cruel but for what it’s worth, I’ve been
through crueler verbal sparring.
“What are you implying, Cassandra?” Martina asks me, all red and furious. “And
stop taking your frustration out on your sister. It’s not her fault you former
boyfriend picked her over you.” She cut me as I opened my mouth for another smart
resort.
“Oh, I know exactly why he picked her over me but whatever. Let’s not go there.
And like you said, he’s my former boyfriend, so whatever he does is not my business
anymore. He may jump of the Big Ben for all I care.” I flipped at her and left the
hall. I was about to knock on my father’s study to tell him that I was going home
when the door opened.
“Ah! Cassandra, right on time.” My father smiled brightly at me. “I was just
talking to Mr. Giordano about you.” I smiled. He moved aside as I entered his study
to greet his guest.
“Hi, my name in Cass……” but I stopped short as I took in the person standing
right in front of me.
“Miss me, mi querida esposa (my dear wife).” My husband whispered as I stood
there, dumbstruck.Sorry, I know this is a short one but it's kind of a filler chapter. More's
gonna come soon.
