The other side of the Coin

“Cassandra!” I leaped forward and caught her just in time. This woman is going to
be the death of me!
“Take her to the hospital, now!” Naina almost screamed at me.
“Gosh, calm down Sims! She just fainted.” Jeremy said in a calm voice, as if her
fainting is nothing to worry about. “Give her to me, I’ll just take her inside.” He said,
looking at me with extended arms. Ha! As if I’ll give this man my wife!
“Tell Mr. and Mrs. Hanson that Cassandra fainted. I’ll take her to the hospital,
alright?” Instead, I turned towards Naina, who was glaring at the Jeremy guy. As far
as the last few minutes are concerned, Cassandra and him were more than just
common acquaintance, and I’ll be damned if I let him get between us.
“Go to the Red Cross Hospital, Dr. Samantha is her regular doctor.” Naina said as
I carried my wife to the car. I carefully settled her on the passenger seat and
buckled her up before making my way towards the driver’s seat. I entered the
hospital name in the GPRS and without a second glance at the moron; I backed the
car from the Hanson's porch and made my way towards the hospital.
The ride was silent, but my mind was abuzz. My mind kept drifting back to when
Cassandra and I had the talk in the bedroom, and how determined she seemed about
keeping this marriage a secret from her parents. Hell, she even mentioned us
getting a divorce! Yeah, like that’s ever going to happen! But right before she
fainted, she whispered my name. I wonder why?
Though, she is my wife, and there’s no way in hell I’m letting her go. Our marriage
wasn’t exactly what you can call traditional, but we are married none-the-less! And I
would very much like to keep it that way.
I still remember the night when I first met her. She was so innocent, so naïve.
God, it was almost like I had been struck by thunderbolt. I even staggered a step
when she laughed at one of my brother’s silly jokes. I had been captive of her from
the very first glance. Then, when Santiago and Naina took their leave to go
somewhere private, they left me and Cassandra alone.
She was already half drunk and after a drink or two, she was definitely drunk. But
me? I have a very strong resistance to alcohol. But I was reduced to a blubbering
idiot by a mere three to four drinks! No, there was something mixed in them. I had
my doubts, which is why I stayed in Vegas longer than planned, to investigate to as
who would want to tamper with our drinks. But everything came up blank, mostly
because I did not remember anything except the moments I spent with Cassandra.
