The Wedding – Pt. 1
Cassandra
“You sure you’re alright?” Salvatore asked again, not wanting to let me go. I rolled
my eyes.
“Yes honey, I’m perfectly fine.” He loosened his hold but didn’t let go. “Salvatore!”
I whined. He grudgingly let go of me. “Thank you.” I said, barely containing my
laugh at his pouty face.
“Buzz kill.” He muttered. I chuckled as I placed a light kiss on his lips.
“I’ll see you later, darling.” I whispered with a small smile playing on my lips.
Salvatore
I felt a smile tug at my lips as I watched my Cassandra go, shaking her head in
amusement. Then, my smile fell at the sudden feeling of loss. God, I was ready to
fight on this with her but one look into those innocent, wide eyes and I was a goner.
Grudgingly, I had to let her go.
Dear god, I could never refuse this women anything.
I shook my head in resignation and went over to my room to catch up with some
work. It’s been almost a month since I’ve been away from Italy and it was starting to
take a toll on my business. I would have to return soon. Most probably after the
wedding. I just hope Cassandra doesn’t object much….

“You’re getting fat.” Marcie said in a sing-song voice as she saw my little struggle
with the zipper.
“No sweetheart, she’s getting curvy.” Naina said from behind me as she tugged
the zipper up, successfully closing the zip. I breathed a sigh of relief, though it was
constricted.
Salvatore was tough to budge when it came to my meals. There should be enough
nutrients and salts and there should not be much gap between the meals. Also, he
was very particular with my meds. He even went as far to set timers in my cell
phone and his own.
But, by the gods, that only made me love him even more. Yes, I loved him. With
my heart and soul.
“Oh, Marcie, you look so beautiful! Doesn’t she, honey?” Martina exclaimed as she
entered with dad in tow. Marcie smiled, basking in the compliments. “It’s time,
come on!” she tugged her, not sparing me a glance, thought dad glanced at me and
gave me a nod of approval. Truthfully, the reason I was one of the bridesmaid was
because dad insisted on it. Some family I have, I thought with disgust. Naina looked
worried but didn’t say a word. I raised an eyebrow at her but she shook her head
and scurried out of the room. Something was bothering her, I needed to know what.
She hasn’t talked to me in almost two days, and this was not good.
The wedding march started and made a mental note to have a chat with Naina
after the wedding.
Raising my head, I walked out after the first bridesmaid, gracefully taking the best
man’s arm, I followed them out. On my way I saw Salvatore giving me an
appreciative glance while giving the best man the stink eye as he eyed the arm on
which I had curled my elbow distastefully. I stifled a laugh.
The walk was short, and all of us took our places. As I stood besides the other
bridesmaid, i caught Salvatore eye and winked at him. He gave me a saucy look that
almost made my knees buckle. Sensing I have an audience, I turned my head as my
eyes met with Jeremy’s blue ones. He looked away but I saw something was brewing
in them. I was immediately on my guard. It was the same look Marcie had when she
was planning something. No, I was not letting them ruin my only shot at happiness, I
thought with conviction.
As the priest started with the rituals so did my prayers. I had tuned out most of
the ceremony until now.
“Marcie, do you take this man as your husband, to cherish and to hold, for the rest
of your life?” Marcie hesitated, everyone leaned forward in their seats to hear her
response. I bit my lip as I felt a nervous chord quivering in my stomach. Oh, this was
not good.
“I, uh… I can’t.” she whispered as collective gasps echoed in the church.
“What?” Jeremy turned to her in what everyone thought was outrage, but then I
saw something that, for the first time, made me ever having a relationship with him
a blessing.
“I’m sorry. But I can’t.” Marcie continued her little rant.
“Why?” he said in mock-hurt.
“Because I’m pregnant.” She said as her hands slid on her belly.
“Who?” Jeremy said though clenched teeth.
“Jer, I….” she started shaking but Jeremy held and shoulders and gave her a light
shake.
“I asked who!” she almost shouted.
“Salvatore.” She whispered and I froze.
She. Did. Not. Just. Say. That.
Thank you for your support and patience, I really appreciate it . I'll post
the next chapter soon.
