Things Of The Past
Cassandra
I woke up with a hazy mind in the softest bed ever. I squinted at the light
streaming from the window. I held up a hand to shield my hand from the glare of the
sun and I looked around me, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. Making at effort,
I slowly sat up, my body protesting heavily. After getting over my initial pain, I took
better look around. The room was big. Biggest I have ever seen, which was saying
something considering I was a resident at the Hanson for quite some time.
The walls were a soothing shade of crème color with a tinge of gold matching
perfectly with the massive gold chandelier hanging in the middle of the room. There
was a golden pattern on the walls as well as the ceiling giving it a medieval look.
There was a vanity with a huge mirror with gold lining to match the décor. There
wasn’t much furniture except a set of crème colored sofa and a coffee table on the
left side. The king-sized bed was in the middle of the room, favoring the front wall. It
was a big, four poster bed complete with a canopy and net hangings. On the left side
of the room there was a door which I was assuming was the en suite. But what
intrigued me were the sliding doors on some distance from it.
I swung my legs on the side and hopped off the bed. I had just take a few steps
when I lost my balance and I fell with a shriek onto the rug that had gone unnoticed
by me. My shriek must’ve been loud enough for seconds later I heard approaching
footsteps as the door burst open revealing a very panicked Salvatore.
“Ow!” I winced as I tried to sit up. He was by my side in seconds, his hands on my
shoulders, as he held me in place.
"Cassandra, sweetheart, are you alright?" He asked, concern heavily lacing his
voice.
"I'm fine." I managed through gritted teeth. He shook his head as he gently
scooped me up and carried me to my still warm bed. I huffed but refrained myself
from complaining.
"Do you want something?" He asked softly as he sat on the bed besides me. I
shook my head.
"I just wanted to wash my face." I murmured, embarrassed at acting like an
invalid. A small smile grazed his lips as he gently grazed my cheek with his fore
finger.
"You look just fine to me." He said softly.
"Your views don't count." I teased. His smile widened as he caught up.
"And why is that?"He asked thoughtfully.
"Because I've observed that you can come out as quite biased." I said with a saucy
smile.
"Do I now?" He replied with a heated look. I was about to reply when a bell
chimed in a distance making me conscious of my unfamiliar surroundings.
