I've been absolutely obsessed with my re-watch of InuYasha and I am absolutely in love lol So when I first watched it Sesshomaru was always my favorite and still is to this day. Him and Miroku are my favorite, so you'll be seeing probably more of Sesshomaru as well as Miroku. I might even do some InuYasha if it's requested at all. So please enjoy!
The inspiration behind this story was absolutely this song that I have linked above. It's absolutely beautiful and it is from Inuyasha haha I love it.
Also! I couldn't decide on how to finish it haha so I have two endings. The first one is sad and the original. The second one isn't sad, but super beautiful and also deserves to be read (at least I think so lol)

"Jaken, do you smell it?" Sesshōmaru spoke suddenly as he and his imp companion walked along the misty remains of Mt. Hakurei.
Nodding furiously in response to his master, Jaken stuttered out an answer respectfully. "Y-Yes milord! It smells more pungent than before too!" The examination behind the imps words made Sesshōmaru wary as he made his way closer to the source of the terrible aura. "My lord, I mean no offense when I speak, however, why are we heading straight for Naraku? Couldn't he just be dead from the mountain fall? Why not leave?" Jaken inquired gently, knowing he shouldn't speak out of turn.
Sesshōmaru did not answer, nor did he even acknowledge the fact that Jaken had spoken. The demon continued his stride beside the ruins of Mt. Hakurei. He was never afraid of anything, not frightened, nor anxious. Nothing ever surprised him, or took him off guard. Sesshōmaru prided himself on his stoic and serious manner. However, in this moment, something deep within him began to ache ever so slightly. (Y/n) was taken by Naraku's incarnation, Kagura, to a higher part of the mountain. Clearly Naraku had no plan on treating (y/n) kindly. This made Sesshōmaru uncomfortable.
While he claimed to be burdened by you, annoyed at the fact you wouldn't leave him alone, and constantly tired of your interference with his battles, the dog demon never allowed you out of his sights. Sesshōmaru was constantly watching over you, protecting you from anything that threatened to harm you.
Without truly saying or acting upon it, Sesshōmaru had claimed you as his, by his own account anyhow, and swore to himself he would keep you safe. Yet, even with his solemn vow to protect you, he was too careless and in the blink of an eye you had been taken away. That was why he continued up the cursed mountain side, not for the jewel, not even to defeat Naraku, but to take you back."My lord Sesshōmaru! Look! Up ahead!" The imp exclaimed as they neared two silhouettes in the distance, masked by the thick fog. "Is that Lady (y/n)?"
Without hesitation, Sesshōmaru leapt into the air, trying to get to you as soon as possible. That was until he was pushed back by a tentacle and landed on his feet a couple of feet from you. "Sesshōmaru, I didn't expect you to respond so quickly to aid a human. Don't you despise them, just like your brother?" Naraku's voice echoed darkly through the fog as he walked into visibility, the same menacing smirk he always wore plastered across his face.
Sesshōmaru refused to humor the demon to his right, his face never showing emotion as he watched Naraku closely. "Jaken."
The frog demon quickly jumped beside his master to aid, "Y-Yes My Lord!" He cried anxiously.
"Stay back. No matter what." Sesshōmaru commanded in his usual calm demeanor as his hand found the hilt of Tokijin.Jaken was taken aback by his masters orders and stammered, "M-My Lord, I cannot! I must attend to your side and fight with you!" He announced bravely, then immediately fell silent at the cold, heavy glare that was sent over Sesshōmaru's shoulder.
