Here is a short Makoto one-shot to start you off!

------------------------------------------------------------

"Makoto! Hey Makoto!" The olive haired male heard a voice calling out to him from down the street as he walked aimlessly. His thoughts swirled in curiosity, wondering who on earth could be trying to get his attention so late at night. Why were they out so late anyhow? And why did they need him? Well, he couldn't judge, now could he? He was wandering the streets the same as they were, no direction, just wandering. Clearing his buzzing mind.

Finally, after much consideration, Makoto turned around to meet whoever's footsteps were approaching and set his features with his usual, sweet closed-eyed smile. That was until he heard the voice speak again, "What are you doing out so late, Mako?" His senses sparked at that voice, the pure, gentleness and kindness.

It was her.

(Y/N).

Shinning emerald orbs widened to capture the image of her beautiful smile, her soft features. 'God, she's breathtaking.' He thought to himself almost desperately. Then he realized she had asked him a question, "O-Oh! I was just, uh, wandering around!" The olive haired boy said quickly in defense. Hearing how desperate he sounded to make up an excuse, Makoto's cheeks heated all the way up to his ears as he rubbed the back of his neck shyly, "Uh, ya know, I-I just couldn't sleep for some reason." He chuckled nervously and relaxed slightly at her agreeing nod.

"Yeah? Well, neither could I." She responded with a less than enthusiastic shrug, "Small world, huh!" Then the giggle that left her lips sent Makoto's heart racing. Walking ahead, the swimmer saw her taking the lead, then felt her hand wrap around his as she looked over her shoulder at him. "Since we are both having such a hard time sleeping, why don't I show you something, hmm? Something that I know you'll never forget." Her voice was so entrancing that he could hardly deny her, the smile that covered her expression was even more tempting and without question, he followed her.

After walking a couple of blocks, Makoto saw that he was being led up some stairs, curiosity began to rise in his mind. "This is the place I usually come when I can't sleep." He heard her say as she reached the top step, looking around examining the area, "Oh! Here, come over here!" Dragging him along, Makoto chuckled at her giddiness when she planted herself down onto the grass under a tree. "Well, now, come on. Don't be shy, silly, sit down." Her insistence made him laugh again and he soon placed himself down beside her, surprised when she reclined back to lay on her back.

For a moment, Makoto watched her closely. 'So lovely...' His thoughts swirled with the millions of things he loved about the girl lying beside him. 'So genuine. So sweet. I'm in love with her..'

"Ya know, the sight of the stars is a lot more spectacular than looking at me." The gentle giggle broke his digression and he shook his head to snap back to reality, ears burning a bright red. Nodding with his shy chuckle, Makoto joined in on her position, lying beside her. "Before you look up, close your eyes. It makes it even more amazing." Why was it so hard to remain calm around her? Why did her voice get to him?

Makoto made no move to question her and closed his eyes, tilting his head back on his hands to look up toward the tree branches. However, a thought crossed his mind before he opened them. "Why here? Under the tree? Won't I just see branches and leaves?" He questioned aloud curiously then his heart pounded at the feeling of her hand over his again. Electricity flowed through his veins when he could feel her growing closer to his side, their shoulders rubbing against each other as her head inclined to the side and rested against his. Makoto always noted that he was taller than her, but loved how his height made no difference in this position.

Goosebumps flew from his skin and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up when her breath was felt against his neck, "Just trust me, Makoto." Her whisper making him shiver. Taking a deep breath to calm his nerves, the olive haired male nodded softly as to not make her move and slowly opened his eyes to reveal a stunning sight before him. He had been completely wrong. It wasn't just branches and leaves he saw above him, there was so much more. Stars lit up those leaves and branches, seeping through as if they were pure silver strands of light. "Wow." He uttered, rendered practically speechless. "It's astonishing, (y/n)." His voice merely a whisper as her's was earlier.

"Isn't it?" The simple words that left her lips made Makoto smile as a joyful feeling caused his heart to swell. "I just love it here, it's always quiet and peaceful. I never have to feel like anything is urgent. Everything fades away when I lie here." A giggle filled his senses and his heart leaped at the closeness they shared, "I remember coming here before the Regionals last year, actually." This stirred up the boys' curiosity again and he titled his head to look at her profile with an odd look. "Yeah, I was so nervous that we wouldn't win...I remember Kou telling me that we would pull through. That it wouldn't matter anyway if we won or lost. But...But I knew how hard you and the others guys trained, and how much time Kou and I put into the regiments and dietary plans and everything...that I just wanted it to all pay-off." A sigh fell from her lips and Makoto felt it hit his shoulder as her face nuzzled into the bare skin where his tank top didn't cover. "Yet, when I saw you all swim together and saw how happy all of you were to finally get out there, it made me understand why winning didn't matter. It didn't matter because it wasn't about the trophies, it was about the fact that we are all a team. That we all work together as best we can to reach to the highest point we can, that we work to be the best we can be." Green eyes were met suddenly with (e/c) ones, the closeness making him quiver, "And that's all I want. Is to be the best we can be, Makoto." Her words melted his giant heart and he felt his hand tighten around hers.

A deep breath was the only sound he heard before, "I love you."

But as soon as the moment was created, it was lost in a flurry of "Oh-oh my god..I'm so sorry! Forgive me (y/n) I didn't mean to be so forward...I shouldn't have said that! It was so inappropriate. Please forgive me." Makoto was flushed with regret, sitting up without hesitation, shaking his head and waving his hands around like crazy as if his gestures would cause such confusion that she would forget what he had just said.

"Makoto..." She started, covered by his apologies, then she giggled slightly, "Mako- Makoto...Makoto, listen, I-" yet every word she began with was ran over by the gentle giants' loud embarrassment. Finally, she restrained his frantic hands, "Makoto, calm down!" (y/n) laughed and shook her head, hair swaying with the motion as her eyes came back to rest on his. The warm smile she held burned his chest, quaked his heart, and sent butterflies erupting inside his stomach.

"Sorry...I-"

"I know how you feel, it's alright. I'm not angry." She explained in a reassuring way, her hands coming to rest in his instead of restraining his wrists.

Her words were comforting to him, that's all he'd wanted- for her not to hate him. "Really?"

Giggling, (y/n) shook her head again, "No, silly, of course not. How could I?" The girl smiled and let out a pitiful breath, "I mean, a tall, wonderful, sweet, kind, handsome guy like you loving me? It's like having my own Prince Charming. Makoto, you're wonderful and frankly...well, I'm surprised you haven't already been told."

Makoto tilted his head, resembling a confused little puppy- adding to his innocent demeanor. "Told of what?" He questioned curiously.

"I love you too, you silly giant." And with that, (y/n) leaned in toward him, pressing a soft kiss to his unexacting lips.

Taken aback by the sudden gesture, Makoto's eyes widened significantly but he wasted no time wrapping her in his long arms and pulling her close.
