"As long as that machine beeps in a regular rhythm , it means that she is alive." Yagen told him as he sent him off in the transmission room.

A life support machine was attached to her body to keep her alive.

Looking at the unconscious sage, he then took her hand into his and started rubbing it to warm her up. He would always do this when the weather was cold back in the citadel.

How did this happen?

She was involved in a traffic accident while on her way to the building where all the transmission took place in order for them to return to their citadels. The driver was found out to be drink-driving and in custody currently, awaiting for court.

When they received the news, all of them were devastated. He had thought it was an April Fool's joke, but sadly it was the cruel truth that bit into his mind.

"When will she wake up?"

"I am sorry, but we do not know. It might be days, months or even years for her to wake up..." The doctor said with a glum expression. With a stare from the dragon, he flinched and hurriedly left the ward.

Kissing the back of her hand, he tried not to let his tears down. He prayed to his masters, gods and even mythical beings, swearing an oath that he would be ready to sacrifice anything; even his life to make her awake. But that did not seem to work.

For once he hated gods- even a god like him couldn't do anything but to pray for her. He then pondered at how useless there were when lives were involved. What were their existence for?

"Kuri..." Mitsutada murmured as he peeked into the ward without entering. He knew that it was the hardest on him, seeing his lover in a coma and not knowing when she will wake up.

"Please... Wake up,  my F/N..." He murmured as a teardrop landed on her hand.

Struggling to stand up, he then carried her to the futon. Landing her down gently, the sage thanked him for his help as he laid beside her, pulling her closer to himself. She was back by his side, and yet he could not forget what happened for the past year.

It frightened him as much as he didn't want to admit it. He felt like he was surrounded by black walls made of darkness without a hint of light until the miracle happened.

"I can't believe that I slept for a year... It's funny isn't it...?"

He kept his silence while wrapping his arms around her. He was glad that she woke up, but sadly on the cost of her legs. They became weaker and although she could walk after undergoing countless sessions of physiotherapy, she would get tired easily and fall when they go weak. Wherever she went, Ookurikara would always be beside her, helping her if she fell.

"See... I am here right? Don't cry anymore, or you'll be laughed at by Tsuru." She joked as she felt the dragon releasing his grip around her. Her hands then caressed his cheeks, wiping off the tears before landing a soft kiss on his lips.

"Don't... leave me anymore."

"I won't, Kuri."
