"I am back... Hmm? Tsuru? Didn't I tell you not to wait for me?"

Turning to see the sage in her usual office wear, he put down his sword and went to welcome her back. Taking her bag hanging on her forearm, he put it aside before placing his hands on her shoulders, giving her a massage to drive off the ache and fatigue. Letting out a comfortable sigh, she closed her eyes momentarily.

"Quit that job, F/N. You're going to collapse in no time."

Shaking her head, she turned her back and took his hands into hers, rubbing small circles as she told him that she couldn't, given the situation. She was the sole breadwinner in her family, and her two younger brothers were going to university soon. Money thus became a sensitive topic to her. Standing up, she gave a quick peck on his lips before she walked back to her room. Grazing his own lips with his index finger, he sighed, lamenting that he couldn't help her at all.

Work became an endless war to her, with complaints filling her ears almost all the time.

"L/N! Didn't I tell you to finish this report by 17:00? I specifically told you that I needed this for tomorrow's conference." Her supervisor, Mazaki, stared at her angrily while waving the file on her other hand. It wasn't the first time that this had happened. Ever since she entered this company, she had been picking on her on everything, even minor things. No one stood up for her because no one dared to offend Mazaki who had strings with the higher ups. One move and they could lose their job in an instant.

"I'll do it after I complete this-" Before she could finish her sentence, the file was slammed onto her table with a loud noise as Mazaki pointed at the file, catching attention from the entire office. "Don't even think of going home if you aren't done with this, L/N." Walking off, the female sat down and gave a silent sigh before resuming her work.

Exiting the izakaya, she held onto the ledge as she rubbed her eyes, trying to make her vision clearer. Stumbling while walking in her heels, she flagged a taxi and went back to the citadel. It was 2 am by the time she returned. Noticing that there was no light in her room, she felt happy. He finally took her words in and didn't wait for her.

Kneeling down, she began to cry while covering her nose and mouth, muffling the noise. Maybe he was right, she thought. A resignation would be enough to sever her ties with the company and her superiors, but she knew that would never happen because she wouldn't be able to find another job in such a short amount of time. Working as a sage was too less to cover her expenses.

Feeling a figure loom around, she looked up with teary eyes to see her beloved. He was seen frowning before she felt his arms around her torso, wrapping her tightly. The familiar warmth did help in calming her down.

"I am here, F/N... I am here..." The crane coaxed the trembling figure, running his fingers down her hair as he patted on her back with a regular rhythm. Listening to her sobs almost made his heart crumble into pieces as he looked up to prevent his tears from falling. He didn't want her to see his vulnerability. Before he could release her from his embrace, he then realised that she had fell asleep from the alcohol and fatigue. Carrying her up, he went back to his room and tucked her in before turning in for the night.

Waking up with a dull headache, she brought her hand up and pressed her palm on her forehead, her brows furrowed due to the pain. Jolting up after realising that it was way past dawn, she rummaged her bag and took her phone out. The screen showed '8:10am'. She was already late for work. Releasing her grip on her phone, she sighed as she remembered yesterday's events. A gentle knock was made on the door, breaking her thoughts. Adjusting her white button-up shirt, she then allowed him to come in.

"Here, have some of this. It'll soothe the headache." Passing the bowl of soup to her, she blew before drinking, wiping off any remaining liquid with a napkin. The duo remained quiet as he took the bowl from her and placing it back on the tray. Before he could speak, she took the lead.

"I handed up my resignation yesterday."

He was surprised that she had made the decision. Of course, he was happy for her, but the sudden change in the situation did worry him a little.

"I was offered a position from my friend back in university. Since she was lacking someone, she asked whether I wanted it. I rejected it at first, but I decided to accept it after yesterday." She explained before embracing him. I am sorry for worrying you, Tsuru."

Grabbing her, he let her lie on top of him as both of them broke into smiles. It was ages since they had intimate times.

And tonight was going to be a party as he planned throughout the day.

Hah.... I've had enough of relationship complaints/ranting from my classmates. Why date at the first place? I just don't understand...

Sorry for the long update. This semester is torturing me slowly with tough modules to study.
