Chapter 4

Checkmate

The coast is clear. Those guards were stupid enough to follow Jongin that they left their post wide open. But it's not that Soojung won't be able to get inside, she works there so entering the Casino is no big deal at all even if it is her day off.

Slowly she went inside easily but as she climbed the stairs going to the main room, her hesitation grows with every step.

'This is crazy! No one in their right mind would do this ... whatever it is! Maybe I should just go back home and continue packing my things. I need to get ready if I want to catch the night wagon that leaves the town..... but ..... what about that stupid Jongin?!

"Ahh!"

A scream from the room broke her thoughts.

"Oh shit!" She recognized the voice.

Soojung quickly entered the main game room and her fears grew when she saw her boss took a seat at the center table of the room while one of his bodyguards sets up a board game at the table. Soojung gasped as she saw the guy seating opposite Mr. S is none other than Jongin whose hands were bind at his back. Drop of blood is visible at the side of his mouth.

"Let's see where this arrogance of yours will take you." Mr. S said, he's eyeing Jongin with pure hatred but at the same time he's smiling evilly.

'Oh no! This is not good!'

Soojung run towards them.

"I told you I can't play. I don't even have any money in me." Jongin said.

Soojung wanted to stop them but Jongin looked at her with meaningful eyes then he shake his head a little.. Like he wanted Soojung not to interfere.

"Then you shouldn't have come here, idiot!" It's taking all of Mr. S to refrain himself from struggling Jongin.

"I just wanted to try my luck."

"Well you got a rotten luck. But I guess today is your lucky day. Because I'll let you live so you can have your chance at playing."

"How many times do I have to tell you? I don't have money. I already gave Soojung my last gold for my rent." Jongin nods at Soojung's direction and instantly the crowd looked at her.

Mr. S turns his head at Soojung. "Oh! So you knew each other, huh?" Like fire, a knew flame sparkled at his eyes in this information. "This should be interesting." He noticed the small bag of money in her hands. "That's kind of you, Jung. Didn't know you turned that place into a boarding house. Considering it's no longer yours."

"What are you talking about? It's her house she can do what she wants."

That's when Soojung got it. 'So this is your plan.' she thought. She could actually see where this is going and that is IF he succeeds.

"Hahahaha! She didn't tell you? Hahahaha." of course Mr. S finds the situation amusing.

"What's so funny?"

"Listen, punk. That house is no longer hers. It's mine! It doesn't belong to the Jung clan anymore. IT'S MINE!"

"You bastard!What did you do?!"

Mr. S didn't like it when someone says bad words towards him especially in public. He nodded to one of his goons on Jongin's right side then in one quick motion the goon had punched Jongin in his stomach.

Jongin winced in pain.

"Let's make this game more interesting, shall we? You said you stay at the Jung Manor now? Let's see ..... why don't we have a deal. If you win, Soojung can have her manor back and I will even let you go unscratched."
