Chapter 8
Under The Table
Soojung's in her all fours down under one of the tables at the game room. Hyeran asked her to do her shift for this day since she has a date with Jongin.
'Wonder how did their date go?' She thought as she wipes the wasted food at the floor. A couple of players got heated up from the game and decided that the food on their side is a good weapon to throw at each other. Soojung's been cleaning the mess that they left at the room.
She can't help but think of the possible outcomes of her friend's date with her housemate. Will she succeed on extracting personal information out of him? Will they enjoy their date? And if so, does that mean Jongin will soon move out of Soojung's house and live with Hyeran instead?
Soojung's drowning from thinking too much. And she doesn't like it especially that she somehow feel a little frustration at the thought of Jongin and Hyeran together.
"Hey, Soojung. Isn't that your housemate over there?" one of Soojung's co-worker, Baekhyun asked her, pointing at the east side of the game room.
Soojung stood up and look where he's pointing.
Soojung gasped. His sun-kissed complexion is noticeable from the crowd. "What the hell is he doing here?"
"Uhm .... isn't he the one who had beaten Mr.S at baduk? I don't think it wise for him to be here" Baekhyun said.
Soojung doesn't need to be told twice, she run towards Jongin.
The jerk is gambling!
"Are you out of your mind?!" Soojung said through gritted teeth when he reached him.
Jongin didn't looked up at her. He continued playing but he still answered Soojung by shaking his head a little.
"If Mr.S will know you are here, you're definitely dead."
Jongin's eyes looked sideways at her. "Shhhh..." he said, he puts his index finger to his mouth to signal her to be quiet.
"Arrrrggghhh!"
Soojung dashed back to the Bar. She drinks some water to calm herself. She can't believe how reckless Jongin is.
"He's lucky Mr.S is not in town. If the boss is here I don't think he will let him leave the building unscratched this time." says Baekhyun.
"Let him die! That's what he wants!" says Soojung, she's gripping the glass of water too tightly out of frustration.
Soojung can't get her mind back to her work. She decided to cut hours. She wants to go home before she breaks something.
"I'm leaving." she said, she grabs her bag and slide out of the bar door.
"Wait! Aren't you going to stop him?" Baekhyun asked.
"He's a gambler, Baekhyun. You and I both know gamblers can't be reasoned."
"But Soojung, you have to stop him. He will listen to you, you're his landlady. He's still new to this kingdom. Don't let him fall under Mr.S's influence."
Soojung cussed. She really hates Baekhyun's negative thinking especially when he's on point. She went back to the table, Jongin's still there but now he's no longer alone at the table, a couple of players had joined him and unfortunately Soojung knows them.
"You need to stop."
Jongin knows it's a firm command coming from his housemate. He probably just got used to her tone but Jongin can clearly see the authority in her. It somehow reminds him of his father.
