Recruitment

Jongin walks at the dead of the night. To his guess it must be around 10 in the evening. He's walking at a slow pace, not really minding of his surroundings, he's on his way going back to the Jung Manor. He stares down to his feet as it takes steps after the other, it reminds him of the night he decided to leave Goguryeo. It was a night like this, quiet and calm.

Things had gone complicated back then and now he wondered if complicated things love to follow him around and throw things at him anytime.

He let go of a deep sigh. He's thoughts went back to the conversation he had with his employer.

Junmyun, Jongdae and Chanyeol had lead him to a good-looking house. It's a big one but not as grand as the Jung Manor, to Jongin's opinion the Jung Manor is by far the grandest residence in the entire kingdom next to the palace. The three went inside freely, Jongin half expected to meet his boss' family but so far he had only seen a couple of servants on their way upstairs.

They stopped at the old fashioned door and Junmyun knocks. "We're here, Boss."

The door opens and the four of them entered.

Kyungsoo is sitting at the long sofa at the center of the room, he stood up upon seeing Jongin. "My apologies if we have disturbed your night, Jongin. How's Soojung?"

"I'm guessing you didn't summoned me here just to have a friendly chit-chat, did you?"

Kyungsoo smiles sheepishly, "I'm really sorry. It looks like the guys had interrupted something important, you're a little grumpy tonight."

Jongin turned his gaze elsewhere, away from his boss, embarrassed. He's pretty sure he's blushing right now. Junmyun, Jongdae, Chanyeol and Kyungsoo took a seat comfortably at the sofa set.

Jongin sat down at the corner of the sofa opposite Chanyeol. "So what is this all about?"

"First of all I would like to say thank you for saving Lord Yebun and Lady Seulgi today and also for bringing them at the Cave safely." says Kyungsoo.

Jongin didn't flinched, on their way here a couple or more guesses had already formulated on his mind as to why he was being summoned.

Jongdae took the bottle of sake at the table in front of them and pour the five small glasses and gave them one each.

"You're probably wondering what is going on and why innocent people were being targeted by the puppets."

"It would be really nice if I can get a straight explanation." Jongin said.

Junmyun sighed, he looks at Jongdae. "I think we will be needing more than a bottle of sake."

"There was once a great General under the military force of the palace, his name is Yansoo. From a simple knight, he raised to the top, almost becoming as good as the King himself." said Kyungsoo.

"He had gained several supporters and he started proposing a new type of government. One that doesn't involve a king. Small things led to another then eventually led to a war. It was a bloodbath but the rebels led by Yansoo were losing and that's when things got even worse." Jongdae continues.

"When we all thought that the government will finally win and return the peace in our kingdom that's when it happened. The King disappeared." says Junmyun.

"You mean he was killed?" Jongin asked.

"No. He was blackmailed."

"If you wanna kill a tree you gotta start with the roots." Chanyel raps.
