Goodbye

The night is so quiet. The only noise is coming from the rustling of the leaves as the wind blows.

The contents of the sake they were drinking were almost empty. Just a few more shots left. Good thing Sehun had finally stopped yelling.

"Is Lady Seulgi the real reason why you got yourself drunk?" Jongin asked. He thinks it's now safe to open the topic since the prince had calmed down.

"I love her, man. I've always felt that way towards her even when we were still kids." Sehun confessed. Somehow he'd become more sober as they drink.

"Why don't you tell her how you really feel."

"She already knows how I feel."

"Women likes it when men take charge and do things that will make them special. Confess to her properly. She may have liked me but I think that's just because I saved her once. It's you who knows her better. I think she will like you more than she likes me."

Sehun's eyes lit up from hearing what he said. "Really? You think so?"

"Yes. And I'm not just bluffing, it's the truth."

Jongin poured another shot at their glasses and raised for a toast.

"Honestly I thought you were upset about this whole arrangement." Jongin said.

"What arrangement?"

"Your sister being the queen."

"And why would I be upset of that?"

"Because you're the male in the family."

Sehun scoffed. "Silla is very different from Goguryeo. Here the first born were destined to take the thrown. I understand that in your kingdom the first male born will be the king."

"Yeah, I figured that out much."

"Besides I wouldn't like it the other way. I never wanted to be a king." he laughed. "Soojung and I will never fit to rule this kingdom."

"Why? What makes you say that?" he got curious.

"Well I can't really rule Silla. I'm the most impulsive one in the family. I might declare war just because the woman that I love doesn't love me back."

Jongin chuckled, remembering how he was just challenging him to a fight few minutes ago.

"And Soojung can't be the queen because of you."

Jongin flinched.

"What do you mean because of me?"

"Don't take me as a fool, I know you and my sister are more than just tenant and landlady."

Suddenly the alcohol feels like fire in his throat.

"You saw how the council leaders reacted when Sooyeon wanted you to become a Palace official. They will never allow a Goguryeo to be their king. I don't blame my sister in hiding your relationship. If they will find out, who knows what they will do to separate you two."

Sehun's words hunted Jongin even after their drink.

He keeps tossing in bed. His mind is already killing him.

His eyes turn to the sleeping form of Soojung in his arms. This past few weeks had been the happiest moments of his life. He's living a simple life. A life he never knew could be possible. And with Soojung beside him he feels complete. But this news about them being together as somewhat unaccepted in the eyes of others, he felt pain in his chest.
