Chapter 28

His Unforgettable Gift

After the performance people had started going home until it was just Soojung, Hyeran, Baekhyun and Jongin were left at the Manor.

"It's late guys, you two should be going home as well." Soojung said to her friends.

"Yeah, we can continue cleaning up tomorrow." Jongin said.

"Alright. Time to go home!" says Baekhyun. He's more excited to go home than to clean the house.

Hyeran flicked his ear making him yell in pain.

"Make sure to come to work tomorrow and in time." she said.

Soojung and Jongin laugh as they watch them leave while bickering at one another.

"You think they have feelings for each other?" Jongin asks as they watch their figure fade into their view.

"Baekhyun and Hyeran?! Are you kidding me? They can't stand each other."

"Isn't there's a saying 'the more you hate the more you love'?"

"Not with those two. They literally hated each other." she said as they went back inside the house.

"Well you can never tell. Love moves in mysterious ways, you know."

Soojung stopped. She looks at him with questioning eyes. "Are you okay?"

He chuckles. "Why? Can't I say what I had observed?"

"It doesn't sound like you."

Jongin went behind her. "It's a mystery how can love change a lot of things. Turn hate into love. Turn a man into something he never expected." he leans down closer to her right ear. "Good night Soojung."

What's up with that sleepyhead?

He's talking about love. Is he still in his right mind?

Love.

It's a deep term for Soojung. Something she had forgotten over the years of being alone. But now her siblings are back, Minhyuk is back and just about everything is back the way it was before. Her heart feels lighter these days. Maybe because love has finally coming back to her life.

And also ...Jongin.

Whenever he's around Soojung feels warmer inside. She finds herself smiling often. Whenever they talk it feels natural. To everybody else she's Princess Soojung again but with Jongin it's still the same. And he still call her Grandma sometimes, much to her annoyance.

There's something about him that she can't quite figure out. He's no longer a mystery for they have been living together for almost half a year now but still ...

Soojung stares in space as her body takes her to her room. Her birthday turned out to be a fun day despite of her demands on keeping it simple. But she's happy that it turned out like this.

After soaking for a few minutes at the bathhouse now she feels relaxed and lightheaded. She enter her room and went straight to her closet, not even bothering to light a candle. She knows her way through the dark. Her hand reached for her nightgown.
