Chapter 35

Home

It's been an hour of waiting.

Jongin stood up again from his chair and started pacing the hallway.

"What's taking them so long?" he asked impatiently.

"I'm gonna kill that bastard again." says Sehun. He too can't stop worrying on his sister.

The doors opened. Jongin and Sehun ran towards the doctor who just came out.

"I've mended her wounds. All she needs now is to rest." the doctor said.

It was such a huge relief to both men. They started getting inside when Sooyeon blocked them.

"You heard the doctor. She needs rest." she said firmly.

"But sis-"

"No buts."

Jongin wants to push the queen but he just sighed. She's right. Soojung needs rest. But it really pains him not to see her right now. He wants to be by her side. He wants to be the one taking care of her.

Sooyeon's about to close the door but Jongin stopped it with his hand.

"Please." he pleaded. "I won't be long. I just .....I just want to see it with my own eyes that she's safe."

Sooyeon stares at his eyes. As the law implies, no one other than the royal family is allowed to address the queen informally but right now Jongin is not asking for the queen's permission but a friend's.

He needs to see her.

Sooyeon's stare softens and slowly she nodded.

"What?!" Sehun exclaimed.

"Come on Sehun let's have dinner." she said, pulling her brother.

"How come you let him see her and not me?! I'm the brother!"

Jongin bowed as Sehun continues to complain to her sister as she pulls him away from Soojung's room.

Slowly Jongin closes the door.

"You came back."

Her voice is weak. Jongin can clearly tell.

He turn to face her. She's laying at the bed. Her skin's really pale, even the redness of her lips were very faint as she smiles weakly.

Jongin walks over to her. She tries to get up but her body's still weak.

"Don't force yourself. Your strength's not back yet."

Soojung didn't listen. She pulled her body so she's seating up and leaning at the headboard. "Just the few down side of being a woman." she chuckled lightly. "Easily breakable."

"Don't say that."

Jongin looked down to her hands and took it. Surprisingly it's warmer than he thought. Maybe even warmer than his since he can't stop from worrying about her.

"I shouldn't have left." he said softly.

"It's your best friend's wedding, of course you have to go." she answered.

"If I didn't leave that lunatic won't have the chance to hurt you. I should have known his true motives earlier."

"What he had become is beyond anyone's. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. Please don't blame yourself."

Jongin look up at her. Even in her state she refuse to surrender.

"Alright, enough drama in one day. You need to rest, Grandma."
