Chapter 25
Victory
It was a victory.
With Yansoo and Mr. S dead, their army surrendered. War has ended and the whole Silla celebrated.
Later that night a huge bonfire was held in front of the Headquarters. All the villagers attended to commemorate this historical event. They shared a toast and prayer for those who gave their lives for this victory then afterwards the villagers had brought food for everyone to eat as they sing and dance under the moonlight.
Jongin, whose somewhat tired and a little irritated though he had no idea why, is being pulled into different crowds by many people. First, Captain Minseok dragged him into a small group of council leaders, congratulating his brilliant plan and they were even surprised to learn that he is from Goguryeo. When he excused himself to get something to drink Chanyeol pulled him out of nowhere and dragged him to small group with Junmyun, Jongdae, Baekhyun and some of the members of JA. Again he received praises for a job well done and also teases him with Soojung now that the war is over.
"At least now you can continue whatever it is that you two were doing the night we interrupted you." says Jongdae.
Jongin left the group while they were loudly laughing at his red face.
Next person to drag him into another bunch of strangers is Kyungsoo. He introduced him to some of the clan leaders in the kingdom. He recognized the face of some like Lord Yebun and the others who had fought alongside Jung Army.
Jongin jumped from one group to another for the whole night, thanking and congratulating him. He also noticed that in every group all they talk about is Sooyeon's next reign as Queen. The topic intrigues him since all of them seems to proclaim Sooyeon as the next ruler of the kingdom while in fact there were three Jung siblings and to think that Sooyeon is a woman. Not that a woman is not entitled to the thrown but in Goguryeo the male line is usually the superior. He had already noticed the difference in authority between the three siblings and it is clear as water that Sooyeon has the final word. It makes him wonder what's the story behind it but his thoughts were interrupted when he saw the small group in the middle of the crowd near the bonfire.
Sehun's excited face shines in the light of the bonfire while he tells a story animatedly, probably a fight scene he had earlier. There beside him is his older sister Sooyeon who's smiling a little, she had her arms crossed in front of her as she listens to her brother's story. But what caught Jongin's attention is the youngest one in the group, she listens attentively to her brother but when Sehun finishes his story the three of them turned their attention to the man standing beside her.
Minhyuk said something that made the Silla Siblings laugh. Even Sooyeon.
Jongin's eyes were fixed on Soojung's laughing face. His irritation started to boil even more.
"What the hell. She never giggles like that." he said bitterly to himself.
"Don't tell me you're jealous."
Jongin almost jumped from the voice. He turned to see who said it.
"Don't go sneaking around my back Hyeran. I could have hurt you, you know."
Hyeran laughed. "It's okay. I'm good at dodging."
Jongin started walking again, away from his view of the Silla Siblings. Hyeran followed him.
"Awww, I didn't know you're the jealous type." she said, teasingly.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
