CHAPTER 17

Finally

"Please, be mine.Thank you."

I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed. I looked at the clock. It was 10 AM. I decided to stay in my hotel room for a while and relax. I had no plans today, other than a meeting with John and Lindsey at 3.

For the next few hours, I did a follow spree on Twitter and watched a movie. It was kind of a lazy day. At 2 PM, I took a shower and put on some jean shorts and a tank top. I left my hair with its natural waves. I grabbed my bag and headed down to the room I was supposed to meet John and Lindsey in.

I stayed with them until about 5, and then I headed back to my room. We mostly just talked about my upcoming plans after the tour. You know, new albums, my own tour, things like that. After the meeting, I decided that I would change and then text Zach and see what he was up to.

However, when I got to my room, there was a shopping bag and a letter on the ground. I picked them up and headed into my room. I set the bag down on the bed and read the letter. It said:

"Katie,

Put this on and be ready by 6.

~ Z, A, and C."

Curious, I opened the bag, and was met by a beautiful blue dress and gold sandals. What were we doing later? Maybe we were going out to dinner with someone really important, or maybe we were doing an interview or something. I put those thoughts in the back of my mind, and put on the beautiful dress and sandals. I went into my suitcase and matched it with a gold necklace I had gotten from my grandma. There, I thought. My outfit looked perfect.

I went into the bathroom and curled my hair. I put on some gold eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. I finished off the look with a little bit of lip gloss.

I checked the time. 5:56. Great timing, Katie. I waited a few minutes, and suddenly, there was a knock at the door. I opened it, looked down, and saw another note. It said:

"Follow the rose petals."

Rose petals? What rose petals? I looked down the hallway, and sure enough, rose petals could be seen lining the hall. I smiled, and set off. I was brought to the elevator, and was greeted by another note.

"Go to the ground floor."

I pressed the button "G" and felt the elevator rush downward. When the doors opened, rose petals led me to the front door. I walked outside and followed the rose petals around the city, sometimes picking up a note. They led me to a park. I followed them into the forest. The trees were twinkling, like someone had put Christmas lights up. They probably had.

And then, I saw another note. It was on a tree. I took it off and read it:

"Turn around."

Turn around? What was going on? I did turn around, however, and I was met with the angelic voices of Zach, Andrew, and Colton.

"I'd love to know just what you're thinking, every little river running through your mind. You give and you take, you come and you go. You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know how much you care or how much you don't, whatever you need, whatever you want...

If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak, if you're gonna be somebody's mistake, if you're gonna be somebody's first time, somebody's last time, baby, be mine. If you're looking to be somebody's just friends, a little laughing, little loving, never calling again, that's just fine. If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak, be mine.

I guess that all I'm trying to tell you, is one minute with you is better than two without. I won't be a fool, but I can't play it cool, so I'm playing it safe and I'm breaking the rules. I'm wishing I had what I know that you got, so, if you're coming my way, then please don't stop.

As soon, as they finished the song, Colton started playing an unfamiliar melody, and Zach walked over to me.

"Look, Katie, I know you said that you wanted to wait, but... I just can't wait anymore. You kill me, really. You're hilarious, you can always make me smile, you have a great taste in movies," he said smiling. "And you're incredibly beautiful. I don't know what I would do without you. All I ever want to do is be with you, and I hope that that counts for something."

"I could watch you for hours, because everything you do just seems perfect. You inspire me every day. Every time I find out something new about you, it just makes me like you more."

"I know you're not perfect, Katie, and I know that I'm not perfect either, but I know in my heart that we're perfect for each other."

He handed me a rose. "What I'm trying to ask you is, Katie, will you be my girlfriend?" He looked up at me with hopeful eyes.

I smiled. "Of course," I said. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him, listening to the cheers of Andrew and Colton.
